Servicing / Maintenance / Tyre packages can usually be purchased for about £50-70 / month
Insurance, wildy different for each individual, but call it £50 / month (would be £30 for me).
Excluding BIK, they offer about £120 / month at the top end.

Then it depends on the income tax position whether it’s worth it or not. If paying 45% tax it’s still far cheaper than buying on the open market as a private buyer. £731 becomes £387/month less tax 45% & further 2% NI, it’s unbelievable value. Far less attractive if paying 20% tax.

So add that £120 and the BIK another £70-80 and it’s not too far away.

I think thats the point being made though. The company offering the SS scheme is not offering anything like a good deal, its the savings through BIK if you’re a higher rate payer. Then it depends on the income tax position whether it’s worth it or not. Who is your SS provider? My wife’s company uses salary plan and all they have available is the long range for £731pm. That’s at 48months and 6kpa mileage.
Tusker. I’ve just run another quote and it’s £467pm after tax for the dual motor 384 LR, 10k miles 36 months. 40% tax payer. Not sure why everyone is bringing up the pre-tax cost, as that’s completely irrelevant to the end user. You don’t lease a car for £450pm then say it’s really costing £750. All that matters as the end user is the cost out of your pocket. My £65k EQC is costing me £360pm. At the end of last year the lease deals for £550pm (plus then you’ve got all all running costs to pay as well) were being creamed over and were red hot on the lease pages.
SS has some real bargains but you have to wait until something comes along as they’re not always great. People at work have been ordering the BYD Seal 530 4WD excellence for £400pm as that’s been the best deal recently.

Some people do think of the cost of things in terms of how much they have to gross to buy them - I’d say that’s a route to insanity though! Not sure why everyone is bringing up the pre-tax cost, as that’s completely irrelevant to the end user. There are some SS bargains but you’re generally paying much more than you should be, because the SS company is keeping most of the tax for themselves.

I've just been offered a BMW i5 Touring e drive 40, M Sport Pro with met paint, with sun protection glass and tech pack.
3 + 23. £2256 + 23 x £752.22
10k pa.
No fees as via dealer, so amortised £19,557.
That's against a list of £84k, so around 23% or so.
That's on a stock car.
The price sounds ooookkkkk but nothing more considering it doesn't include insurance...3 + 23. £2256 + 23 x £752.22

Setting price to the side, my i5 Touring was delivered 2 weeks ago and it is a stunning car. Have posted about it on an i5 thread in the EV forum.
I know there is grumbling about the HVAC and things going on the touchscreen but it really is a good implementation. I have owned iDrive 7 cars in the past and I do think it was properly top drawer but I think the flexibility of the digital dials in 8.5 is worth the tradeoff.
I haven't quite decided on whether I love it because of it's EV powertrain of because its a big high quality BMW, I think it might be the latter, but the powertrain is fantastic despite being the 40 it really is a rapid car for daily driving.
Don't want to derail the thread from the deals...

Is anyone familiar with the Tusker EV car scheme? I'm due to start a new job and this is offered - I'm looking to replace my car but wondering if I should hold off until I start the new job and use the scheme. Thanks
Not personally, but my sister has one through work with Tusker. It includes insurance, all servicing and even consumables like tyres. It was more expensive per month with a waiting list for some brands (like the Kia e-Niro she had from 2020-24) so to save some money, she chose an immediately available one, a VW ID4. She doesn't think it is as good as the Kia though.
can anyway see what a polestar 4 is on a SS scheme? Duel motor.
I've got an 'old' car scheme, where I get an allowance, company lease the car.
My company is paying £812 a month fully maintained(excluding vat). With the breakdown of my lease allowance/pay(I can SS the overspend), the cost to me is worth or the same as £440 a month(550 allowance then Tax saving on the over, £250, even saving 40% on the £812 is £487.20.
Thats for the duel motor, upgraded interior, insured, serviced, taxed etc.
The lease company are pushing us to move to their 'new' scheme, which I think the net cost of the Polestar 4 would be more, how much more?

On the salary sacrifice schemes, costs will differ from funder to funder, and as to what support terms are offered to each company for their staff. If you work for a smaller company, then the manufacturer will likely offer lower support terms than perhaps they would offer HSBC (as an example). This is due to the smaller opportunities to do business for them manufacturer.
Some funders are pretty awful on their offers, we're seeing this with regards to the volume of orders we receive compared to other SS comoanies in the marketplace. But then again, I wouldn't want to be holding the can on the values of EV 3 or 4 years down the line, so I can see why they'd be cautious on the RV.

What were the lease deal you got and with whom; could you please share? Thanks very much. ????
Apologies - mine is on a Salary Sacrifice deal so not applicable here and wouldn't be replicable. I would have shared the wealth otherwise. As Fast Bug says varies from employer to funder etc.
Was just trying to give a view that if someone was on the fence about the car it really is a great bit of kit. But back to the deals!
ETA: Frankychops I would post this in the Sal Sac thread in the EV section. I would be happy to pull a quote for you from my company to give a ballpark/comparison. But don't want to derail this thread.

Does SS not significantly affect pension contributions? I wanted to get one but realised it would cost a lot more in the long run. As Fast Bug says varies from employer to funder etc.

It depends. If you're public sector I believe it does, however for private sector it generally (YMMV) doesn't. I confirmed this with my HR/Finance dept, you might want to check with yours.Mammasaid said:

Depends, I am in a public sector scheme (police scheme) and I have just ordered a SS car, my pension contributions remain based on my full substantive salary. If they weren’t I wouldn’t bother with a SS car as being in my last 3 years service before I can retire it would have a significant negative impact on my pension. I have 25 years service on the old final salary scheme and that is based on the best of your last 3 years salary before I retire. patch5674 said:

It doesnt inc insurance - just a standard BCH deal through BMW UK.Setting price to the side, my i5 Touring was delivered 2 weeks ago and it is a stunning car. Have posted about it on an i5 thread in the EV forum.

It's a great car - a local dealer loaned me a saloon for 4 days.
I think, as a BCH for a vat reg'd LTD Co paying the lease, its a reasonable deal for a high spec and powerful barge.

yes but it shows how car lenders are moving the goalposts when setup with modern SS schemes, I'm sure the polestar deal i've got would have the effect of circa another 50% of net impact Some funders are pretty awful on their offers, we're seeing this with regards to the volume of orders we receive compared to other SS comoanies in the marketplace. Yep looking at gross on the SS deals is pointless, Think of being a fisherman, gross is what’s in the sea, net is what you’ve caught in your erm net, and will take home….it’s the only thing that matters
I’ve ordered an ev through work, net it’s £300 a month on the nose, when you factor in all the elements included insurance, maintenance, tyres, BIK etc true cost is under 200 a month. It’s insane!! I went to the dealer for a test drive and a 1*48 same miles term but without the extras SS offers on a pch/pcp was around £500 a month with them.
