I suspect it may be due to the price, but could there be any other reasons my specialist, convertible sports car isn’t generating any enquiries?

I’ve had over 17k views and 120+ saves on FB; 500+ on Car and Classic; 3000+ on AT. Also listed on PH, but can’t see a way of checking views etc. I think I’ve included all required information in the adverts, as well as interior and exterior pictures.

Potential reasons:

1) too expensive
2) weather not good enough yet for convertibles
3) other?

Not sure if posting the ad is allowed…

How much is the car?
Private sales over 20k are hard work.

Thousands of views but from how many unique users?

If I see a car I like I bookmark it and check it two or three times a day to see if the price has dropped so, in the case of a car I'm interested in, the ad will be getting at least three hits per day just from me.

I would guess that many of the "views" are bots.

Yeh it may be that your car is not over priced as such but I know I've always struggled to sell anything privately at that level.

Likely a combination of 1 and 2, 2 of course influences 1. If you want rid of a convertible at this time of year you are typically going to have to offer it for less than you would get for it in May-August.

I’m likely getting rid of my 440i cab this year, but waiting until summer to do so.

Drop it £1k 2-3 weeks. Advert looked fine to me so I think just need interested buyer and a particular price point.

To many unknowns.....

whats the car / age / price?

how does it compare price wise to the others listed?

are any of the others selling?

Is it quite unique? in which case auction or collecting cars?

Im selling two cars to fund a new 911, the Boxster sold quickly and loads of enquiries, my morgan is getting loads of views but no offers as yet

Defects are probably not helping but it's the colour combo not working for me.
No offence intended.

Coolhands has actually managed to correctly identify the car in question, so that should answer your questions.

As far as I’m aware, others are selling, albeit very slowly.

None taken!

Colour combinations are a potential barrier to some, and the previous owner did the wheels. Seeing as they don’t bother me, I haven’t had them changed back.

Genuine question - Why would you pay 6k more for yours over this one?

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202303155...

Or the blue one owner car at £24,995 on Pistonheads.

Ot the £28k one that’s just had 6k spent on it at powers?

Fair questions, and at the risk of this turning into a sales pitch:

The £20.5k one has covered 96 miles in the last year; mine has 992. That would raise questions for me as a buyer. There’s also no mention of a rebuild, and the lower mileage might mean the engine isn’t out of the woods yet. However, I don’t know anything about that particular Tuscan, so I’m just speculating.

The £25k has a patchy service history (I actually looked at it before it was sold to that dealer when buying mine) and the interior looks rather tired.

Assuming you mean the one at £29k, I’m surprised that hasn’t been bought yet: it looks like a nice example. I suppose the higher price reflects the protection buying from a dealer offers, as well as some of the upgrades.

You could afford to buy the £20.5 one and have enough change to rebuild the engine compared to buying yours.

Being honest, you asked for advice, you probably need to drop to a max of 22.5k to get interest.

Perhaps, and that’ll come down to individual preferences in terms of whether or not one wants to go through the rebuild process…

Appreciate the input, but I’d rather keep hold of it than sell for £22.5k.

Perhaps adjust the price, fix the defects, take some better photos, spend £200 on refurbishing wheels back to silver and you’d get more interest.

Your rebuild was presumably done almost 17 years ago and at a third of the miles now covered, so it’s a negligible benefit versus a recent rebuild.

Hope useful. Not trying to have a pop. Buy a lot of cars so tried to offer some constructive advice in respect of the question posed.
