Really confusing !
You are not listening or only reading the posts you want to read. Save them the trouble of travelling.
Dealer with a single car on AT
With an address at a storage depot.
No traceable online presence at all.
I did not check, but probably only a mobile number ? every dealer has a landline, probably a burner number,
Quite likely using a close name to a genuine business.
Scottish car for sale in Surrey
Loads of miles on salty roads.
For a sensible magin, everyone must have been avoiding that car at auction.
Dodgy address, possibly a burner number, statutory warranty will be worthless.
Two people viewing who know nothing about cars ?
viewing a high mileage car, from the coldest and wettest part of the country that has possibly been off road too.
Not buying outright but leaving a deposit? at a storage unit, to a dealer with one car on AT, possibly with a burner number, who seems to be using a bogus company name, close to a local genuine business.
A big heavy 4x4 with a tiny engine and way above average miles, from Scotland, that alone should be enough.
What could possibly go wrong?
Over here in Essex and East London, the trade knows the game with scottish cars, scots do not like to buy them, so cars get moved south, and sourthern reg cars taken North, I deliver loads to Scotland, one scottish company buy all there vans and trucks used, from Essex.
My neighbour bought his nearly new BMW from Perth, he asked, so I looked into it, it was a 1 owner London registered car, if it had a plate starting with S, I would have told him to look elsewhere.
Oh, and my bro in law, a proud Scotsman, not too proud to avoid Scottish cars lol, gets me to find cars for all his family down south. Wants independence though lol.

Also, that is a Scottish car, will have done lots of miles on salty roads, All the ste from Scotland comes down south to auction, where buyers are used to seeing different prefixes, transporter loads daily.
What a load of rubbish. What you mean to say is it’s Scottish registered so nothing to say it stayed there. Also interested in these Scottish cars heading South to be auctioned, any examples of these transporter loads?

If you open your eyes when travelling around the south you will see far more S prefixes than you would expect to see, they are not all tourists and it is a distance too far for most private buyers.
Of course, any car may not have stayed anywhere, but a vast amount amount of new vehicles, are sold and registered locally and until they hit the used market stay within that area, just common sense can work that out.
Anyone travelling between the South and Scotland can see with their own eyes, transporters travelling, loaded both ways and if you are inquistive like me, look at the registration plates of said vehicles, moving vehicles long distances is not a cheap exercise. If there was not money in doing so, it would not be happening.
In the course of my work I visit auctions, I see what goes on, where transporter come from, and the registration plates of cars in said auction, I am nosey when it comes to anything automotive, knowledge in this game is power lol.
I have posted about a Scottish company I deliver too, and about my BIL, a very small example granted, I do also deliver to Scottish private buyers, far more often than anyone would think, and I am just one delivery guy, on route, the amount of large transporters, trade plate drivers, small transport companies, towing trailers behind pick up trucks or SUV,S, and small single transporters, sometimes towing trailers, travelling the same routes is eye opening.
Like any forum, you are free to pick the bones of information given, ignore what does not apply to you, or call BS with zero evidence to the contrary, as you have just done.
Have a happy day.

You are free to believe whatever you believe, what I have posted is common knowledge throughout the trade in this area, A car with an S prefix is given a far better due dilligence because of it.

Based on what you say any Polestar should be whistling the theme tune to inspector Morse whilst most BMW group cars spend their days going up and down the Yorkshire Dales. If you open your eyes when travelling around the south you will see far more S prefixes than you would expect to see, they are not all tourists and it is a distance too far for most private buyers.

I’m be of the largest pre registers of new cars in Arnold Clark who send their cars to dealerships in the South.
Having purchased more cars and vans for over the years than you have probably driven I am fairly well qualified in understanding the mechanics of automotive logistics.
I've never read so much concocted garbage.
"Never but a car registered in Scotland"
"Probably been driven off road"
"Transported from Scotland to auction down south"
If you are warned off by PH then you'll believe you dodged a bullet.
If you buy it and have the slightest fault PH will claim they told you so.
As with most posts like this, someone will find a reason for you not to buy it on the basis above.
Id personally travel to see it but be vigilant for any mechanical problems given the mileage, and watch out for them claiming is a non-trade sale to avoid 3 month warranty.

I work in the motor trade and can confirm that there is no new world order cabal that takes Scottish cars down south to auction it's utter nonsense.
You will get cars transported south and north but it would make no sense to load transport costs onto an auction car. Almost all trade auctions are still online only and even the physical auctions will be online. If you are seeing a load of cars going south that's probably because there's a bigger market down south and the cars from Scotland have been bought by dealers South of the border.
With modern anti corrosion production methods unless the car is 20 years old it makes no difference if it's a Scotland car. Certainly on a sub 10 year old car it's not going to matter.... Unless it's a Navara they rot into two halves you would probably not be buying one of those from Aberdeen unseen.

I think most people are feeling free to pick bones out of your opinion with absolutely zero evidence to back it up, rather than the other way around mate.Eta: fridaypassion over many threads speaks with the most level headed responses I've seen. And my Range Rover started life in Scotland. It now lives in Devon. There's absolutely nothing iffy about it at all.
Of course, be careful if you buy a car with WK or WJ plates, it's come from Cornwall and been surrounded by the sea all it's life

What happened, did they go and view it, or heed your advice.
They didnt go to see it. She called the guy and when he messaged her back to say the meeting place was in a big yellow storage place she didnt feel comfortable so cancelled the viewing.
She had also done a full HPI on it and there was milage discrepancies.

No its a clandestine conspiracy to dispose of cars with S on their plate to unsuspecting buyers!
My old Golf was registered in the West Mids but its first user (was a VWFS lease car) was near Edinborough for 2 years.
So mine was a "Scottish car" but not by appearance.
Maybe that will be the next daytime trash TV advert? "Have you been sold a Scottish car without your knowledge? You could claim thousands of pounds!"
I understand that cars that have lived in the depths of Scotland all their life will be a bit more crusty underneath, but theres no guarantee where its lived based on the reg, you need the history and the v5 to make that decision.
