They are deep into the unreliable territory though. Everyone I know who has had one has had engine or electrical issues.
2 years and not a single issue with mine.

Interesting. Like I say, I know a couple of people who have had them and they've either been unlucky or you've been lucky.

How bad is it on fuel on average?

Yeah who knows. The BMW warranty was really quite cheap if the car was under 60,000 miles though I don't know how age impacts that. I think I paid around £1300 a year?

I lived in (outer) London at the time so a lot of my driving was cold / stop start. It typically saw around 16-18 in these conditions. On a motorway cruise it would see high 20's without much issue.

We did a trip across Europe as a final send off. Lap of the ring, 170 on the autobhan, alpine passes and it devoured it. Fantastic car.

I did feel sorry for the rear tyres though, poor things never stood a chance!

Nice cars, what colour? There's a red one lives near me and I love how it looks, guy keeps it immaculate and has just added springs, spacers and few small touches here and there, it sits lovely on the road.

Doesn't the old saying apply

"fast, cheap, reliable, you can have any two"

The only colour I’d want one in. Monte Carlo blue.

Maybe. The thing is though, I’m not a powerfully built company director so to me, £20k isn’t cheap. There must be some middle ground where all three are possible.

Unfortunately this was a dead end. The car was lovely, front tyres were a bit old and the discs were probably on the verge of needing replacing but nothing which couldn't be sorted and the rest of the car was absolutely perfect.

However, the seller had someone else viewing the car later today and so he was unwilling to let me test drive it unless I agreed to buy it. Something felt a bit off about it all so I walked away.

Now I guess it's just a waiting game to see if another one of a similar spec pops up for me to drive (or something else entirely)

That old chestnut! If they won't let you drive it and they still have it up for sale, there's a reason they won't let you drive it, and it's NOT the one they gave.
