I came up behind one on at some temporary traffic lights on the way home from getting the Elise supercharged. He gave it some welly.

If I have no passengers, I floor mine at least once every drive. But only away from onlookers. I have nothing to prove.

Suspect the answer is that you don't often see a Tesla, or any other powerful EV use it's full power - because you're not looking.

Why would you look? There's nothing to alert you to the event, there's no engine roar or tyre squeal.

That's what powerful EV's do when the lights change or they pass nsl signs, they simply ps off at mind bending speeds but with zero drama.

I saw a Model S just before it would be given the beans on the roundabout at Bignells Corner, near South Mimms Services.
It was weaving through the traffic with blue lights flashing on its way onto either A1 or M25, didn’t see which way it went. It was clearly in a hurry.

I'm not sure it counts if it has blues and two's in play wink

The OP wants to know why private high powered EV's aren't thrashed on a daily basis. I think they are, but they're silent and have immense mechanical grip so mostly, nobody notices smile
