Yanni is trying to get his registered in the UK. Canbus isn’t an easy job to get the lights working for UK market. Makes for good content.
It's going to be interesting to see if he can get it through IVA.

The weight is an issue for anyone without a 7.5t (C1) licence. A standard B licence allows up to 3.5t GVW. Cybertrucks are way over this, so you can't drive it.

You could downplate it to 3.5t gross, but you'd only have 450kg or so for payload so could easily be overweight with people in the back and stuff in the bed.

The steer by wire system is also a bit of an issue for IVA, although I believe Canoo have got theirs through.

Yanni appears to be a mate of Daniel Ashville, who posts his weekly progress in the aggregates and property refurb businesses on YouTube. His latest edition features Yanni and the CT:

The CT content starts at around the 42 minute mark.

Yianni better watch out!

Interested what law they seized it under.

I've driven foreign plated vehicles on UK roads loads of times for work (I work in vehicle testing/engineering) and I'm pretty confident it was legal. Similar to journalists driving Italian plated Lambos etc. very part to pin point the actual law though.

Its not legal, although manufacturers may get special rules

Uk gov says::
Temporary imports
You can usually use a vehicle with foreign number plates without registering or taxing it in the UK if all of the following apply:

you’re visiting and do not plan to live here
the vehicle is registered and taxed in its home country
you only use the vehicle for up to 6 months in total - this can be a single visit, or several shorter visits over 12 months

And an Italian Lamborghini etc. has ECE type approval which a Cybertruck will never have.

Isn't it more likely to be the insurance than registration? I'm sure you and motoring journalists would be insured in the UK to drive those cars.

I don't think so, manufacturers have special conditions allowing them to do things we can't, one example is so they can road test development cars before they're finished.

The gov website is pretty clear, the general rule is if you live in the uk you can't drive cars on foreign plates here
