Slight exaggeration perhaps, but they are the wrong side of 1600kg. There are decent 7-seaters which don't weigh that much!


If by 'fine' you mean the longer gearing was cruising along OK, then sure. It'll pootle at 3rd at 30mph fine, but when you press the loud pedal don't expect anything to happen quickly. That's not ideal IMHO, about town is where you want a responsive gear - not an economy one. Hence frequently having to drop to 2nd, even 1st where many petrol engines wouldn't have to - quite the opposite of what you'd expect from a torquey diesel.

6th at 60mph would struggle with any moderate incline, in my experience. 75-85 is where it starts being any use as a cruising gear.

The problem with the interior being so well insulated was that a lot of the time, you couldn't actually hear if the engine was struggling or not. hehe
