I’m not sure on that residuals graph, mines 3 months old with 2,000 miles and I’m pretty confident I could sell today for what I paid and quite possible to get a bit more as demand is so strong. Deliveries are coming in batches so that will impact that to some degree but whilst there’s a waiting list of over a year demand will be strong. Top gear I’m sure will also drive some demand when it’s released later this year which will push sales back further. Once most cars are delivered I can see the big drop that is expected of a car but for the first year I think it will stay strong.
Also I don’t think anyone’s achieved 62mph in 2nd.
And finally their touring mileage how are they achieving that? I’ve managed about 32mpg commuting as the best.

I guess you’d tend to shift just before max revs normally though to avoid hitting any limiter if you were recording an acceleration run? Is there a hard limiter at 7250? It could be if there’s a fuel cut you’d want to change just slightly before to avoid revs dying. Or do you think the gear ratio info is slightly wrong i.e. it’s not quite 8.5mph per 1000rpm?E.T.A.
It looks in this post further up that it’s a fuel cut at 7250 - I guess they’ve rounded the gear speeds too to the nearest mph
So they’re maybe the gear maxima rather than the change points when going for max acceleration

I’m guessing he’s Australian as that was the first buyers price. If you don’t want the car go for it. If you like your car don’t go for it.
Thanks guys for the enlightenment.Yeah well I'll pick up in two days, in all seriousness I'll know for sure on the day.
I'm sure by all accounts from reviews, I'll be keeping it.

Their graphs never reflect situations like these. I think the residuals should definitely be strong through this year. Aside from the dealer cars, maybe a few will trickle onto the second hand market after a year, so from November onwards? Especially if there is a end of run edition.
They usually get some external company to get those figuresObviously a long term view but it will be interesting to see how much they go down in reality

I’m getting wait for a new car fatigue. And I’ve still got four months to go.
I don’t think it’s helped that I came home from work today and I’d received a NIP in the post (for our antipodean friends, this is not some Clarksonesque racial slur, it is a Notice of Intended Prosecution).
What was my crime? 80 mph on a deserted A27 on the way to my mother’s house. No points on my license and only speed awareness course was 7 years ago, so should be wrapped up by a Zoom call whilst reading EVO, but I’m still pissed off. 1 mph over the ‘10% + 2 mph’ threshold.
It’s making me reevaluate whether I should be buying a faster car. Oh well, if I get banned off the road I’ll sell it for good money and go back to enjoying my bicycle.
I could slow down and think of the children, of course.
I got caught before xmas joined a busy road which has a blind bend to the left and poor visibility to the right ,pulled out of junction and to get some speed up so i wouldn't be rear ended went round corner and there was the traffic van positioned ironically from where the danger is,, was doing 36 in a 30 zoneI don’t think it’s helped that I came home from work today and I’d received a NIP in the post (for our antipodean friends, this is not some Clarksonesque racial slur, it is a Notice of Intended Prosecution).

felt like entrapment to me, forgot about it and then after xmas the letter arrived , sent it off to do a course and they replied 2 days after, picked a course out for 14th Feb as the mrs was in and I'm no expert on computers and never used zoom, pad wouldn't work for whatever reason ,mac book did .
lasted for 2.5 hours quite interesting really and no boy racers on the group, many old boys which just showed mostly accidental speeding or not knowing the speed limits on certain roads.
Ruined my fun in cars, as scared of every white van parked up, and cant you go on the course if get caught again before completing, those weeks leading up to course where a black cloud over my head, still have clean license but made me think do i want another fast car or sell the ones i have as it affected me, anyway keeping the cars and Gr comes in April.
Spending a lot of time looking for the potholes which again have got worse, the police should call them in as they are accidents waiting to happen , but they rather drive round them and park up behind tall grass and catch a motorist who drives past them without incident.

To be fair though the line has to be drawn somewhere...you knew where it was and exceeded it. You could look at from the point of view that if you were travelling just 1mph slower you would have been fine.I do absolutely sympathise and feel your pain though.

Was keeping my eye on these but couldn’t place an order until I’d finished my house build and drawn a line under that particular expense...
So I finally managed to speak to my local dealer recently who laughed politely at my enquiry regarding availability. He did say there are unsold cars in France that could be reallocated, and that they expect Toyota to do another production run, so I could put my name down. Who knows, eh?
I did manage to get a test drive though and it confirms what everyone is saying; an absolute hoot, and you can really feel the depth of engineering. Perhaps the most amazing thing about it is the ride. Genuinely nicer and more complaint than my wife’s A6!

The thing is I didn’t know what speed I was doing as I don’t drive around looking at the speedo, I drive at a speed I deem to be appropriate for the conditions. I saw the van up ahead, glanced down and saw an indicated 80 mph and thought ‘that’ll be ok’.I do absolutely sympathise and feel your pain though.
I’m only griping anyway, I believe in speed limits and law enforcement. I just think they’re there for other people and their own protection as they can’t seem to drive slowly very well. Driving gods such as myself should get a free pass to use our better judgement.
Unlucky with the speeding fine. I know where the local scammera’s are mostly but during the daytime, especially Mon-Fri I am extra vigilant. For some ‘spirited driving’ your only real option is later at night or early in the morning when the roads are mostly clear. Most other times there’s too much daily traffic in the way. Or the odd track day (ideally in the wet as you’ll have 4WD!).

The technical layout misses out the clutch pack at the rear which gives the 4WD and the ability to have the three 4WD modes. It's pretty much the technical tour de force for the whole 4WD system.
From a technical point, there is not much that is correct really, apart from 4 wheels maybe Pommy said:

I'm not having a go at you but there really is no excuse for what you said there. You should always be aware of your speed, so to admit that you didnt know means that you only have yourself to blame if caught over the speed limit. You previously said you were booked for doing 80mph, but an indicated 80mph would be more than your actual speed.
We could argue about this all night...but it wont change the facts of what has happened unfortunately.

Are you going to claim you’ve never exceeded the speed limit, even on the motorway?
The speedo in my Clio doesn’t overread by much, 2% at most.
The GR Yaris does have a speed limiter, a handy 143mph.
