Well done that it hasn’t succumbed to slushboxism too
Definitely! thumbup

They need to sort the Supra out now with a 3 pedal manual too! biggrin
Just buy an M2 manual instead? Same thing.
Not a bad shout to be fair but I really like the 2 seat part of the Supra though.

My Evo 6 RS's were circa 380 bhp.
Need at least that surly????
so it becomes another hyperhatch that cruises around at 5/10s of its capabilities at instant jail time speeds like the Golf R, A45, RS3 etc?

i would rather have slower but thrash-able so that more of the car could be enjoyed with out a 2 year ban

My bet is a £39,995 retail price for the circuit pack version (i.e. the one you want).

Never thought I would see the day I got excited about a Yaris but I will definitely be paying this some serious consideration as my first ever brand new car...fingers crossed it’s kept below £35k, hopefully closer to £30k.
£27,700 according to Autocar

"I really, really want the new Toyota Yaris" is a sentence I've never used until now.

Most interesting, exciting new car since the new Jimny! What messed up times we live in.

Hopefully it still has the back seats. A really hot hatch needs back seats. Otherwise, what's the point of keeping the hatchback shape.
Can somebody confirm this - the press release makes no mention and I've not found photos that show up clearly.
Definitely want rear seats!
There are plenty vids of the preview drive, the prototypes have the rear bench in place (2 seat I think).

Types of car that I don't care about:

Japanese cars
hatchbacks
less than 5 cylinders

however this looks fantastic and is about the only new car I've seen recently that I am excited about. Had I the means then I would seriously consider this as a first ever brand new car.

I hope it drives as well as it looks, and as others have said I hope it has decent suspension travel and isn't hideously oversprung

No, 260 in a small car is more than enough.

Too much power corrupts the driving experience, you need a car that has less power, but FEELS faster. Hoping that this delivers and sells, so it encourages others to follow suit.

How much are you prepared to pay for only 260bhp then ????

I have roads at my disposal where I can use 350bhp in the GR.
It won't be my daily so nooooo cruising involved.

The Yaris has been out what twenty odd years, and suddenly having an all consuming desire for one after years of ambivalance (decent superminis thought they have always been) feels a bit like after 49 years of heterosexuality going "Hmm, he's cute".

That looks great and I imagine it is a fantastic piece of kit, need to drive it before worrying about whether its got enough power.

But, also, need to know what the price is before getting too excited, 40k was mentioned, that is a heap of cash for a Yaris, however good it may be, given all the other stuff in the Hot Hatch market segment and how that is priced. If it is 40k then they will sell about 3 of them, surely the price needs to start with a two ?

Nearest on paper, was the Audi S1 and they were what mid to late twenties ? MIni JCW is only 2wd and a bit less powerful but they are 25 ish before options. Those two have the "Premium" badges but not sure quite as many give a toss these days and are a bit more open minded perhaps, if anythign Toyota with the Supra got slagged for it having BMW content, so maybe Toyota is more desirable than BMW seeing as they are everywhere now ?

What a fantastic effort. If it drives half as well as the spec sheet suggests, it should be superb. Agree with others, first new car I've been excited about for a long time. Bravo Toyota clap

Evo's were two classes above this though.
With the bigger engine to help.

260 odd at that weight is pretty good. I'd be quite happy with that from a 1.6 3 pot. I'm sure the aftermarket brigade will soon be squeezing more horses out though.

Thank you Toyota in a car world where so much is so same, you've broken the mould.

Now i look forward to the reviews

It’s success will come down largely to the finance offers and if there are decent lease deals I fear... given most people only worry about their monthly cost. The total value for most people is irrelevant.

When the gt86 came out the Toyota finance packages were rubbish....
