Order in last Friday, something-something-red - only three colours left and that's the options, nothing else to choose. I guess the batch must almost be done.
Test drive (having test driven a few GTs) on Monday - much excitement.
26 years driving and this will be my first new car!
(Will have to keep the 330 touring for schelping and skipping, parking arrangements need working out!)

Hi all, well it all got real yesterday when I went to my local dealer and sat.in my new GR86 in Magnetite Grey
It's yet to be PDI'd and I am picking it up on 05 September so still a while to go and it's been a long time coming!
Other half approved of the looks even though it was adorned with the white protective plastic stickers and was also impressed with the quality of the seats and trim. I found the driving position just to my taste with good visibility and I know it will suit. Steering wheel is nice small size and doesn't feel too thick on the rim and feels.quality finish. gear change seemed a little notchety and the handbrake seemed quite high when set. yes some of the plastics do feel a little low rent but everything you touch is rather nice. Not played with any of the infotainment so can't comment really but it does appear a little dated and the bezel is plasticky but not horrendously so.
Counting down the days...

Fitted a little box of tricks that folds the mirrors when you lock the doors.
At least I can tell when it's locked at a glance now!
explain please. At least I can tell when it's locked at a glance now!
To make this happen you can buy a little logic box with a bit of wiring to fit into the door card which will fold the door mirrors in when the car is locked and unfold them when it's unlocked. It's a good indication of if you've remembered to lock it!
There are some cheap Chinese sourced ones which may or may not work (not all GR86 wiring looms are the same it seems) but buying from a company in Australia (RHD) of all places and asking it to work on a UK car has worked a treat.

Well as standard, the car doesn't fold it's door mirrors in when locking. There is a button inside though which folds the mirrors in so it seems penny pinching by Toyota to not have this as an option on the car.

Thanks, have a link? I went from a Megane Trophy that did fold mirrors on locking to a Corolla (temp car till my GR arrives) which didnt despite the user guide suggesting it could on some models but obviously not mine. As you mention, a great indication the car is locked. To make this happen you can buy a little logic box with a bit of wiring to fit into the door card which will fold the door mirrors in when the car is locked and unfold them when it's unlocked. Part of the reason I cancelled my order. The touchy throttle which only seems to work over the first 50% travel is a pain around town.
Apparently the throttle map on the BRZ is fine, not that we got the choice here.
Not such a problem once moving, although the rev hang is frustrating with an otherwise beautiful gearchange.

How are owners getting on with the throttle?
Sure I'll get used to it, but I'm struggling a bit - 0-light throttle to maintain a given speed is fine, but seems like there's barely any travel between light and full, so accelerating at less than full beans is pretty tricky.

It can still be tricky before it warms up, it seems to be extra sensitive then!

It does take some getting used to but you get there in the end.Sure I'll get used to it, but I'm struggling a bit - 0-light throttle to maintain a given speed is fine, but seems like there's barely any travel between light and full, so accelerating at less than full beans is pretty tricky.
It's almost as though it wants you to be rough with it! It's worse on choke so if you can either let it idle for 30 seconds or get up to speed (past 2nd gear) ASAP then it's not too bad.
