Anyone else still waiting? ordered late June but now on Mediterranean Highway currently in Italy.
Me!

My car is in the UK now, due at the dealership at the end of the month. Just waiting for a collection date.
Same. My car has been up in Derby for a couple of weeks so just waiting for the call to say it’s at the dealer. Should be by end if month apparently.

The order books are closed now, so you could be right. I'll get mine just in time for 5 months of awful winter weather!
At time of writing you can still order a car on Toyota.co.uk, in a choice of colours. They have not sold out.

Speaking from experience you may be able to request one but that does not mean you will get a car.

Having ordered one (and it was in Derby ready to be delivered), and cancelled it, I'm familiar with the process.

The site is still accepting orders and deposits. The suggestion is that they've worked through their existing waiting list and that there are cars available.

Received by me following an order within the deadline.

"Thank you for your recent request to order a GR86 unfortunately due to popular demand, we no longer have any available stock.

Your £1000.00 reservation fee has now been returned in full back to the account payment was made from, please allow 3-5 working days for the funds to reach your account."

Try a different colour.

I assume they're matching cancellations to fresh orders and the remaining cars will go out to the network of GR centres.

Thoughts on all-season or winter tyres for the 86?

I live in North Yorkshire but hardly out in the sticks and I do have the luxury of being able to WFH if conditions are that bad.

My last RWD car was an NC MX-5 which I ran on summer tyres in all sorts of conditions without any major drama.

I've done the last 4 winters in Newcastle with PS4s on my BRZ. No dramas. Won't be swapping tyres this year on the GR86.

UK cars do not have an alarm. Toyota UK currently deliberating next steps as car was sold to most (if not all) as having one according to spec sheets and instructions for “drive home” insurance.

I've just downloaded the spec for mine and it says alarm+immobiliser. Think I'll email Toyota and see what they say. Their handling of this supposedly premium offering has been a total st show. irked

There’s a lengthy thread running on GRZoo about it.

I'm not that fussed in itself. It's not like anyone comes running to the sound of a car alarm. It will probably just reduce some pointless battery drain.

It would be a concern if the insurance companies start getting antsy though.

Could go some way in explaining why the insurance premiums are insane on them.

I emailed Toyota and got a very quick reply. Unfortunately it was complete nonsense and didn't actually answer my questions. I've gone back to them and asked them to confirm when they intend to fit the missing alarm.

While I don't think the car is particularly attractive to car thieves if someone tries to break in to it while it's on my drive I'd like to hear it!

ETA: got a further reply.

At present we are unable to advise anything further regarding the alarm as Toyota GB are currently investigating the alarm on UK specification GR86.

As soon as we have an update to rectify this we will update you, I must assure you this is of upmost priority at Toyota GB.
Not acceptable. Particularly given their unwillingness to give a timescale for resolution.

So how can you tell if you have an alarm or not? - Don't really want to test it by breaking in smile

According to the manual the alarm is activated when the vehicle is locked and the red light on the dash flashes, mine flashes so I assume it has an alarm

Looking at GR86 on Autotrader, obviously a few speculative adverts, but am I right in thinking the premiums are gone on these and low mileage examples are now available at list price, if not slightly lower?

Yes.

Keep in mind the first batch had a lower list.

I'm amazed this one has been on there all week given the colour and price:
