I've sent a formal complaint asking to be made good on the alarm so lets see what the say. They have tried a basic fob off to others saying it doesn't need one, I have taken the approach that I bought one so I want one. It will be interesting to see if they try and persist with the cheap ass approach of not offering one as I'm prepared to step it up to full legals (with the aid of Mastercard) if they want to try and avoid the cost of installing one.

I've raised with my cc company today but I've just spotted that there's a value limit of £30,000 in the legislation and my car cost more than that so I expect my bank will tell me they're not liable and close the case.

I wouldn't think that because the car cost more than £30k they would not entertain a claim, it would just mean any payout would be limited to £30k no?

I've raised a case with Trading Standards, pointing out that it's possible ~400 cars are affected.

Got email today. Rejected due to value. The Motor Ombudsman has confirmed they will engage though.

Waht a joke. You would still have the option of the financial ombudsman or try S75A for values between £30k and £60k.

Is the problem with stating that the car has an alarm just an issue with the first batch? The brochure for the second batch dated 6/7/23 which is still on Toyota's website doesn't state an alarm, only states an immobiliser, it also doesn't state an auto dimming rear view mirror.

I don't have the first batch brochure so not sure if that states an alarm or not

Mine was the second batch and its spec sheet does state alarm and immobiliser however I'm sure Toyota would just stay this is a typo on the spec sheet and the brochure spec are what I paid for.

When I took out insurance with Admiral it only states immobiliser.

Car is on finance so making a claim against them, They have a maximum 8 weeks to respond (half way through that and no doubt they will use every last minute of it) and if I am not happy with their response then financial ombudsman is next.

Another new owner checking in.
Managed to get hold of a brand new Pearl White at Hills of Woodford last week. Being delivered to me on the 28th with all the factory protection on it so it can go straight for PPF & Ceramic coating before driving.

Been meaning to add these for you lot. We had two GR86, direct from Toyota, which we ran at Race of Remembrance in November. Cars ran faultlessly for the 12 hours, finishing 6th and 11th in class, not bad considering it was the first race for many of the drivers and it was suitably ‘Welsh’ in the weather department.

As above, that’s a GT86 not GR

I must say that with 37 gr86 on autotrader the residuals don't seem as strong as I expected.
