104 on Autotrader now.
Tricky to call the bottom of the market but it's definitely in steepish decline presently. Harry M bailed a few months ago and I'd say he knows his onions about the sports car market. The anticipated cuts in Interest Rates hasn't materialised and probably won't much next year.
That said the oversupply might well dry up as they've sensibly stopped making RHD V6's.
996 manual V6's in the UK on the register. 173 V6 autos. 202 AMG's.
1,371 Emiras in the UK in total plus the unregistered new ones at dealers/Lotus.
Yep that's a fair few for sale plus we know Lotus have even more in their car park...the regular drip drip nature of how many appearing for sale means the bottom is still a few weeks away but I think it does not have much further to go...perhaps another £2-3K. Mate in the motor trade reckons right now dealer trade prices are around the £45-50K region so still a bit of downside to go & you can always strike a bargain if the dealer needs to get rid of to make their sales targets!
I have decided against brand new as no matter what happens that's a £40-45K investment even if you have to hand the car back early vs prereg is around the £25-30K mark...big difference if your circumstances change & you have to hand it back!
Cap is well over 50k still at the moment I have just capped one at 54k actually for a 72 plate with 2k miles nobody is buying these car for 45k I'm trying to buy every car I possibly can to hit a 60k retail and I have only found two cars to buy. I keep getting outbid by bigger dealers (who follow CAP more) GC paid 57k for the satin wrapped one they have . A trader got very lucky there haven taken it in PX and he managed to get out of it. Its unsellable with a satin wrap on and a tiny margin for a business like GC to be operating on.
Its a bit of a dumb time for this "bulk" of cars to be hitting AT nobody is going to be buying anything before mid January now. It just seems a bit stupid for Lotus to have released these cars at the worst possible time of year. I would assume this is out of desperation for cashflow or maybe they just have so many of them they will be doing drops all year.

Exactly that. It's dumb to drop so many nearly new cars on the market a fortnight before Christmas when the trade is dead anyway. Smacks of desperately running out of field parking space.
Auto100 are going to get bored of trickle charging all that Emira stock over the snowy months of Jan and Feb. I'm test driving an AMG one this morning though.

I will be interested in seeing where they sit once all the ow and delivery mileage cars are replaced by ones with 20k on the clock.
It must be an indication of the how good these things are if the number of privately owned ones with a not unreasonable mileage are like hen's teeth.
I'm very close to getting one - toss up between the ruby red or the verde green at Auto 100. Reckon it will hold it's value better than the Vantage I've been considering or less likely to make me cry like the Gen 1 Vanq, which I've been looking at (though that might go up in value). I digress.
Anyone recall what Harry got for his - I think he mentioned it, or inferred in that McLaren video.

I think it was £57k - from memory but definitely well short of £60k.So I've now tried an AMG version. Here are my thoughts - I have tried a V6 when they first became available at dealers.
The DCT seemed absolutely fine, it did upshift and downshifts just like any other DCT I have tried. Probably not as crisp as the Porsche PDK which I tried on a four year old Panamera last year because that it like a light switch and the rev needle just twitches like blinking an eye. But it was fine, really quick up and down. 50mph in 8th gear was 1400rpm and the car cruised just fine which was remarkable.
The engine felt noisy and untuneful. It's raucous and therefore has an excitement level to it and in Sport mode it banged down very quickly when the gas was floored and the acceleration was aggressive enough for me. I'm not sure I'd like the engine as a daily driver but for me its my fun 3rd car and I could live with it - be easier for the wife to drive a DCT than a Manual especially as its a notchy narrow gate affair.
Pros and Cons to both - I could make either work. Colour combo was the Zinc grey and red interior which was nice - the red bits lift it. The Emira can do flat colours as well as it does metallic but usually I don't prefer the Porsche Crayon style colours. But as my preferred Vivid Red just doesn't seem available on the used market they are all second preference colours. I want to see Atlantic Blue in the flesh before making a decision.
Nice dealer experience, felt upmarket - Birmingham Lotus.

There is demand for the few private cars on sale. Handful of dealers call the owners all semi regularly telling owners their cars are worth £53-£55k and try to get a sale.
All private cars currently asking well north of £60k and one chap has his car up at close to £80k with two photos on the advert both showing the inside of the boot!

That's the Rolls/McLaren dealership in Hockley Heath isn't it? That's where I test drove a V6. A much better location for a test drive than Alpine Solihull which is only a a few miles up the Stratford Road, but an awful starting point for a test drive of an A110.The Lotus chap was great, very helpful, though at the time I got the impression they were just trying to sell new cars at list with finance offers. I bet they're a bit keener to deal now; or are the pre-registered cars mainly shunted off to non-franchise dealers?

I'm wondering how many dealers, that hold a lot of stock, keep them all on trickle. I know that years ago many would just jump start them for test drives, but dead batteries can cause all sorts of error codes these days.Auto100 are going to get bored of trickle charging all that Emira stock over the snowy months of Jan and Feb. Consensus was that the rrp was too high and the market seemed to have settled on £60k for a lightly used example. To my mind that's attractive, given two or more years manufacturer warranty remaining.
If Lotus keep increasing supply beyond demand, market forces will make these an even bigger bargain.
Given V6 rhd manufacture appears to have ceased, I think FE manuals will surely firm up in the medium term.
If I didn't need four seats I'd be buying the first one available in my desired spec.

Agree with most points and I reckon the V6 FE manual is probably approaching its base price residually which could well now be next winter in all probability mid £50ks retail for a low miles up to 1k top spec blackpack in a good colour given the economic backdrop and don't forget these are 'sports' cars many buyers wanting one for low mileage weekend use only so their prices are typically seasonal especially cars with sports suspension and Cups which don't work well sub 7 degrees and eoth standing water.
The i4 will inevitably continue its downward price trajectory as supply continues to ramp up.
Long term reckon on the V6 Manual FE likely being the one to own.

Funny I always wondered if all the people moaning about fault codes and weird behaviours were using their cars very often.I usually use mine pretty regularly but it's been sat in my parents' garage for a month or two while I had one of my old man's cars up in the midlands for an event.
It cranked briefly but didn't have enough juice to keep going to start it this morning, remedied with a jump pack but it had an absolute meltdown for the first 15 minutes or so; misfiring like a bd on the first start, blowers not coming on, infotainment kept resetting, ESC warnings, the whole shebang
Also managed to peel about 2 feet of paint off my old man's garage floor with both front wheels, I see AP haven't bothered to solve the brake sticking issue that the Evoras had.
