Probably not new news, but heard today lotus have moved from the agent model back to wholesale. Also ramping up part supplies. Could be good news for owners who need warranty work / customer support.

Made an offer on one but the dealer didn’t appear to want to move too much from the screen price. Just have a gap in the stable I need to fill and thought the emira could be interesting…but given the issues I might just be better off buying an older Mac 570s with a 12 month warranty!

If you get one with an official mac warranty I’m hoping it won’t be too ruinous financially!

As I mentioned on another thread, I do think the Lotus vs McLaren comparison is valid for someone looking for a weekend car.

I don't think I'd want a Grade 4 one from BCA though. That feels riskier than purchasing from A100 lol.

BCA grade 4 is more compatible to the Mary Rose than a new Emira!

Possibly, depends on the car.

Often grade 4 at one BCA branch is a far better car than
a grade 2 at another branch.

Largely depends who is appraising and the cars source.

Not me who bought it LOL! I think I might know who did though.......let them reveal for themselves though!

As for Auto 100 if anyone is thinking of buying from them.....yes they are silly cheap, pleasant friendly people to deal with & yes they tell you when you buy one you have to go to Lotus for any issues so you cannot really complain about that aspect. Buyer beware & all that jazz...go to a main dealer pay another £7-8K no guarantee you get any better or worse treatment.....your money your choice.

For me personally this is what I am currently going through in order to even attempt to shift my Emira on:

1: No V5C after almost 6 weeks...xmas post & poor weather delays & all that but DVLA do not even have a record of a change of ownership reaching them...maybe the post got lost it happens I guess......! They were quick enough to take the £600 for 1 years road tax though! So just going through the by post only V5C lost logbook process to get the replacement (another £25 + postage).

2: No 2nd keyfob still. Lotus dealers do not seem to be interested in helping me with that at all...Cannot find anyone who wants to code the thing! Managed to find a brand new UK keyfob instock just waiting to have it confirmed its the right type as the price is very cheap...seems too cheap to me! I saw an invoice from Lotus Surrey for £246 for a recent replacement. When I have the keyfob going to pester Lotus constantly to get it coded either at Hethel or arrange for a dealer to do this (its their ex car after all!!). Will just keep making a pleasant nuisance of myself until it gets a positive result!!

LOL they are not going to take offers on Emira i4s. i4 is a safer buy than an older McLaren & also looks more interesting. Just find one you like (not that many left now they seem to have sold most i4 leaving the unloved V6's.......)

Unloved V6s? Has anyone sold theirs after 4 weeks’ ownership or is that just the i4? wink

Unfortunately you are going to have it a while yet, the key problem sounds a joke and with no V5 for a few weeks selling it is an issue, not a great outcome for you at all.

Hendy must have been offloading old stock on the cheap to make room for shiny new Emira’s……all priced above 80K and the dearest closet to 90K.

Is anyone with at least half a brain cell going to touch these cars when they’ve seen prices tank.

I appreciate supply is going to be limited as time goes on but they just aren’t worth the crazy money being asked brand new, unless dealers now own the cars and they’re able to offer bloody big discounts and keep the 0% offer……just like old Lotus used to work!!

There's quite a few McLarens around the £62K mark. I was tempted before getting my i4 - same money and let's face it the McLaren is a faster car. But. You're either getting into a 12C or a 540 tat that money and both those you're can roll the dice and take your chances on nothing going wrong - or you're going to take out some kind of warrantee and those go from £3000 to £5000 a year (and that's after paying somebody to check it over). With the Lotus I was buying an almost new car with 30 months of the manufacturers warrantee left on it. So. I played safe.

You pays yer money and all that but a 540/570 is a Supercar not a sports car (and yes I know its a sports series /phsemantics) As mentioned here the running costs are next level (as is the performance) 570's far from the best build quality unfortunately they make Emiras look like a 80s Mercedes on that front.

Lotus Hatfield have a V6 auto at under £60K and Lotus Kent (both main dealers) have another one at £62K - and Hamilton up in Scotland (main dealer) have an i4 at £62K - so I don't know where you've got this idea that main dealers are another £7-8K more expensive (the cheapest i4 at Auto 100 is £58.5K).

I find making a pleasant nuisance of myself works well - keep up the pressure and stay calm.

The other thing that put me off going for a McLaren - was those stupid doors. Some kinds of attention I just don't want.
