On the topic of cars not being prepped I don’t understand the logic of not fixing faults before sale - the dealer will get paid to resolve unless there’s some weird quirk with Lotus warranty claims.

The only thing I can see is they don’t want the car sat around 3 months waiting on parts.

That said Charles Hurst had mine booked in for repairs whilst it was up for sale and I only had to wait a couple of weeks to get the car. Touch wood no issues in the month I’ve had it, thought it would be a weekend toy but it’s pushed the 911 down the pecking order at least for now.

Most of it is pretty unmissable, even more so if a buyer has done a bit of homework. It’s under warranty,so a dealer will be doing the work at some point come what may.
There’s a three month wait for doors, why not book it in when they first get the car,so that any potential buyer is a few weeks down the line already? Surely “we’ve pre- booked in for such a date “ is better to hear than “ bring the thing back in 3 months”?
I bet there’s been plenty of potential buyers that haven’t even bothered going into the showroom after walking around outside looking at the state of most of these.
Or.... you could stop complaining - get the car - book it in for three months time to sort out whatever - and use the pain of it all to negotiate a good deal.

Jus' sayin'.

PH prefers the glass half empty approach.
Do Caterham and Alpine get this much vitriol? How know the A110 were suffering fuel pump failures leaving a lot of owners stranded but I haven’t paid close attention to it all.

Alpine is far worse for reliability, awarded a one star review in Which…

Or ….you could have a scroll back to my first post on this thread where I sung the Emira’s praises after driving one rather than trying to score a cheap point. Being a bit gobsmacked about the state of the cars I’ve looked at and driven,(as in all needed paint, all had varying degrees of air con problems and all looked like they’d sat unloved for months just for starters ) is simply stating facts, not complaining. I’ll find the right car eventually, preferably one that doesn’t need a repaint, a zillion updates and hasn’t been a customer rejection, rather than take your advice and buy a half ready car ta.

Just sayin’.
wink

At least your Alpine will get fixed in 4 days and not 3 months laugh

Every day you're not driving one you're missing out on all the fun.

But whatever - everybody has their own risk and reward strategies.

I too would be averse to buying substandard on the basis it would fixed in the future. The rather fab CF tailgate on my Evora had some flaws from the moulding process when I got it. Lotus were very happy to confirm it would fixed under warranty with a new one, just that they never managed to supply one in the 2 years I had it! I sold it (to trade) with the flaws.

There is another elephant in the room when relying on Lotus for future warranty fixes, they still have to be in business, which is not a given right now.

I wonder how that would work? If Lotus goes bust, but Geely still exists, would Geely need to honour the Warranties?

I looked into this as was seriously considering going back to Lotus again with an Emira and worried about them going under. However recently seeing a dealer car that had already had doors and clam already replaced now with further bubbling put me off totally sadly.

However in answer to your question it becomes null and void if no-one else buys the existing company. Geely wouldn’t be legally obliged to take on as it’s a different business to Geely.

Bubbling in the same areas or elsewhere ?
The fact that Lotus have changed the paint warranty from 5 to 3 years tells its own story.
I’ll prob still get one though.

If new doors are the fix and then the problem is repeating in the same place, I’d be very sceptical that the new doors had actually been fitted. How would you know?

In that instance dealer confirmed new door a clam fitted, hadn’t noticed it starting to bubble again. They confirmed ‘the latest revised doors been fitted.
