What is next for the 296?
Discussion
no idea, is it really finished already - it feels like Ferrari is replacing models at a rather accelerated pace. i would assume there will be an XX version (XX just being a slightly modified road car nowadays....)
I like the way the 296 looks - first Ferrari in a very long time that I find pretty (like decades).

It occurred to me that, with the production run of the 296 GTS finished, they must be up to something. I think comparatively few went for the Assetto Fiorano spec, so the usual "special" treatment isn't obvious here? Any clues anyone?
Has the production run finished? A friend of mine has one on order and he hasn’t even been to the atelier to spec it yet. Are you mixing up 296 with recent news that the SF90 production run has ended?
296 was only introduced 2-3 years ago so makes no economic sense for F to end production already.
Even more so when you consider this new platform required significant investment to move off the V8 458/488/F8Trib platform, and to introduce hybrid.

I was told by my dealer that the order book was closing. As far as I know, you can't order one now. I ordered mine in April last year and it is being delivered next week.
A closed order book is not synonymous with the end of production. My mate isn't expecting to see his car until the autumn next year and his order was in two years ago so if books are closing now then the production will probably continue until 2028.Fair point. I didn't express myself very well. Now that the order book for the GTS is closed, I'm wondering what they will do with the next and final version? I'm not sure something like a Pista version will necessarily work as the more track focussed spec wasn't that popular and it doesn't need more power. So the traditional lighter, harder charging version just doesn't seem obvious.
