Just when I thought rallying was doing so well in the UK, the Plains Rally is cancelled due to lack of entries.

Yeah, not great news, but I think not being part of the BHRC, or BTRDA championships helped. The previous weekend is the Border Counties, which is now BTRDA, and is now in May, rather than mid March as it was for quite a while. It's not hard to see why they didn't get the entries.

I think there needs to be a look at when events/ championships run - to enable all these events to run. Losing events isn't a great look for the sport.

I'm supposed to be retired from stage rallying, but it's not going well.

This weekend I am co-driving for my pal Keith in this lovely machine, on the Jim Clark Reivers rally - which is the Sunday event of the Jim Clark weekend. It's part of the Scottish Rally Championship. Keith and I first did the JC together 25 years ago in an Evo5 and last time was 15 years back in a Mk2 Escort. We will have No.135 on the doors because we were originally a reserve, and got a place after seeding was done.

Then on the driving front, I am undertaking a mild restoration on our 205 GTi, which hasn't competed for 10 years. It's already had some bodywork and engine work, and now I'm sorting the interior and replacing all the safety equipment (seats, belts, extinguishers etc). Fingers crossed it'll get the MSUK Logbook in the summer and competing somewhere cold & wet in October smile

It's also on You Tube which is a better platform for streaming......most other motorsport series use it, and not Facebook. UK rallying's obsession with Facebook baffles me.......

On a positive note the coverage was great.
(Mind you I'd rather be there)

I was there for Friday night's Abbey stages at a friend's house (right on a 90 degrees bend). BBQ and rallying - fantastic combination. biggrin

In none of the thread topics but it’s Donegal this weekend, one of the greatest imo .

After six weeks off, looking after the missus. I have two weekends of rallying to look forward to. The Kielder Forest rally this weekend and Dunoon next weekend.

Nice day out last Saturday watching my local NZ Championship round - first time the Southland Rally has been run in 20 years so it was good to have it back in the calendar. A predictably dominant Paddon win, but the other contenders are steadily improving too.

Gravel Ben, I think you should be banned from posting on here not only do you post good shots, but they remind that we don't get true gravel rallies in this country, (we get forest rallies that use forestry roads.)

Only joking, though.
