We do have it pretty good here!

Can't complain too much when a 29-mile gravel stage starts about 10 minutes from my house... hehe

Nice day out last Saturday watching my local NZ Championship round - first time the Southland Rally has been run in 20 years so it was good to have it back in the calendar. A predictably dominant Paddon win, but the other contenders are steadily improving too.

Chris Kelly Memorial on the IOM cancelled as the organisers and the Manx government cant agree on route etc.
And the Keith Knox Memorial on Otterburn has also been cancelled as they can't get an agreed date with the MOD

Not a place I know well - but I have been a few times, mainly setting up and change round jobs. Love it!!

Well Rali Ceredigion has now finished. All I can say is what an event with Haydn Paddon taking the ERC Win. Two rounds of the BRC plus a lot of other competitors it was one of the best events that I have attended. Plenty of spectators out on the stages including the four stages run in Aberystwyth that certainly brought people out.

Only problem for me is next year it clashes with an IOM rally.

I enjoyed watching the ERC coverage, its a pity they don't show classics etc as well as the ERC competitors though!

Hills Ford - Three Shires this weekend.

I will be navigating in Greebo, car 128 - looking forwards to it.
First pace note event, so should be interesting.

Just back from the Yorkshire Hill Rally. Whilst seeing Highly modified Land Rovers and a few other makes is nice to see. I don't think hill rallies is my thing. 42 cars isn't exactly a large entry, so Strongly suspect the event will have made a loss. Which is a shame as I know how much effort went into organising it.

We had an few troubles with the car, the gearbox (T5) has just been rebuilt, however it was baulking 3rd -> 2nd so we did most of the stages without it.

Unfortunately somewhere on the way to stage 11 (Hole-in-the-Wall) the alternator belt disappeared which left us stranded at stage start. Probably one of the most serene places though, right by the river.

On the upside, we had a good time, I managed to get most of the notes read out in the right place and time woohoo, one half spin at a chicane - just touched the bales with the boot rotate.

Is great when it works. Must try it again.

Unlucky, but provided you enjoyed the bits you did do.

In NZ news - Paddon has managed to acquire his 2016 Argentina winning WRC car, and is running it at the Ashley Forest rallysprint this weekend (and a few other events, but won't be often due to lack of spare parts).

I won't be there (other plans plus its a 7hr drive from here) but they will probably be live-streaming most of the weekend.

Final round of the ITRC today , cut short after 5 stages due to adverse weather . Keith Cronin wins the title , Frank Kelly wins the modified after waking up early and blitzing Damien Toners' points advantage , fair play to both .

The events are funded by a championship entry - competitors pay for the whole year, at the start of the year, so events are managed by the organisers from a fixed 'pot' of money.

The benefit is that they don't pay forestry fees - having just come back from the Trackrod that really does make a massive difference.
