I am also aware of all those other vehicles.
All but the g-wagen starts at substantially less then the grenadier though.
Like I say, it’s clear that you’re very invested in the grenadier for some reason but I personally don’t get it.
Anyone who is genuinely planning to go Overlanding would never look past the LC because its proven. All but the g-wagen starts at substantially less then the grenadier though.

The vast majority of G wagon and Defender buyers are buying the image. Not a single prospective G wagon AMG buyer is being swayed and I've never seen the diesel version of the new one on the road.
That leaves Defender buyers, maybe you'll get a couple of them bored of waiting for their factory order. Lastly the people who thought the old Defender should never have gone out of production and think this will be amazing even if the chassis was made of camembert and the diffs filled with Milka, good luck getting them to part with £70k.
I say all that as someone who quite likes the car in certain respects and loves the fact there's more choice and it is genuine choice.
What is it with this place? I’m sure things didn’t used to be like this?
One minute this place is full of like-minded, generally decent and well meaning fellas, I take a sabbatical for a few years, and when I come back it’s b
h central !
On almost every thread about someone doing well for themselves, it’s almost always the same crowd throwing metric tons of s
t hoping that some of it sticks. You can pretty much guarantee who will be on a new thread and what they’ll be saying, just by reading the thread title.
It’s no Ferrari 250GT California in the looks department, but the G Wagen, the Defender and various Land Cruisers aren’t exactly lookers either.
Personally, I think it looks alright. Not amazing, not dreadful, just alright. And I’m sure someone will be offering different aftermarket front bumpers for it soon.
Is it cheap? Well, no, not really, but most new cars aren’t either.
I for one wish Ineos the very best of luck with this venture. It’s great to see a new kid on the block and I hope the Grenadere is a resounding success.

There is no doubt that it might be ok off road. But it’s completely unproven and looks like a Chinese rip off something which wasn’t exactly a looker to begin with. It’s at premium price point, and despite 300 trying to compare it favourably against a Land Cruiser( but apparently a 959 is to X6 as….) the Toyota is backed by a very serious company and is well proven.
However. They are selling to a niche. I’d wager mostly enthusiasts and when they dry up the average user of this type of vehicle isn’t going to stump up this kind of money for a grown up Lada Riva?
I do wish any entrepreneur success. But this to my eyes is going to be a monumental failure. I hope I’m wrong those gainfully employed in the project.
Benefit - can be bought as a station wagon and specced to a full SUV whilst retaining its commercial vehicle status.
Anyone in business will see the benefit of this as you can claim 130% tax and get vat back.
Can’t do that with a GWagon, Land Cruiser or any of the others, most pick ups excluded.

Can you imagine having been in that meeting where they *agreed* to the windows not lining up?

My Dad had one for pulling a plant generator around. He also had a K2 Sherpa van at the same time. He much preferred driving the Sherpa and that was a bag of s

Yeah it doesn't have the authentic provenance the lifestyle crowd crave, the lofty swankyness SUV-mom wants to extoll, or shout muscle mega speed Mr micro-penis needs. The vast majority of G wagon and Defender buyers are buying the image. Who else is buying SUVs at this price point, did I miss anyone

The big issue will be reliability which I hope they have covered, they seem well engineered. The new defender is so unreliable, I know of 6 5 of which have broken down.. one needed a new engine under 20,000 miles and one is being returned as they can't even fix it. The service from jlr is crap and the vehicle is crap..
4 of those people have grenadiers on order and at least half have vowed never to buy jlr again. Landrover have sold themselves out..

He's driven one and is enthusiastic about it arriving. He is slightly concerned that there doesn't appear to be much new info on the proposed
service centres - last time he checked there wasn't one North of Edinburgh, which is 160+ miles away.
Also, as a soon-to-be owner, we felt it odd that he hadn't been made aware of the big launch/media event currently happening up this neck of the woods.
Personally, although I'm not overly keen on what I can see from the photos, I'm going to reserve judgement until I see and drive one. I think it'll eventually be perceived as one of these truly rare things - a 'classless' vehicle, appropriate in almost any environment.

I’d never invest in a JLR product. I’ve seen to many horror stories sadly.
