Was this you I saw on A404 near Henley yesterday? Looked and sounded beautiful
More to the point was that your car on Top Gear right near the stage?

Looking at the side windows It looks like the Top Gear car could be a Tribute. It doesn’t appear to have any nose stripes so don’t think it’s the Mirage one. Anyone?

Yes Mirage GT has a quarter light like a genuine 250.
Tribute has sliding windows unless it has the Grassbank upgrade with electric window and quarter light as in photo here.

No, it’s got its own chassis and one piece body and looks very nice quality. Would need IVA too and home built cost around £120k I believe but what a beautiful looking car. BMW M52 or 54 straight six power plant, not a V12 but engine would look lovely like this!

Definitely not a Tribute - the screen angle is correct, the nose is the right length and those wheels look like Boranis.

It’s got sliding side windows like some of the Competizione cars - Ross Brawns car can be seen with the sliding windows in when on track. Tribute sliding windows have the Land Rover window locks which this doesn’t have.

GTO Engineering car?

They'll be black with a little red piping on the outer edges.

More work to do but at least I've started.

Post some pics when it’s done, go careful with that nice new paint.
This was my pride and joy 4 years ago. 4.7 V8 sounded gorgeous. Should’ve kept the reg number.

Hi Smash and ukcerb,

I know you both have these dashboards. I'm building mine and I'm wondering if you just blank off the face vent trunking, or if you re-rote it somewhere else.

Is there any side window or face venting? I'm looking at eBay (and through car windows in car parks eek ) to see if there is anything suitable smile .

Or you could try actual car air vents made for the diy job....

I won't be using the sink plug hole, but the other site looks promising.

I've ordered some at the suggestion of another builder, but I may pick one from Carbuilder.

Thanks smile

I'll ask the question here because it's relevant to building a kit car...

I'm building a Tribute, but basing it on an M Roadster (321 bhp). I can't use the standard M brakes as the calipers (not just the guides) would need to be ground too much. I'm looking at using E46 330 brake calipers, EBC Turbo Groove discs and EBC Redstuff pads.

Is there a calculator that I can use to determine if the braking force will be sufficient?
HI,

Did you end up using EBC products? We have joined this forum to assist any users with any issues or advice regarding EBC products. We are not here to sell our products, merely to offer advice. Emails can be sent to forumadministrator@ebcbrakesuk.com or happy to chat on here to find out your thoughts.
Yes.

I was hoping to use 15" rims, so I tried the E46 330 disc setup, but wasn't able to make 15" or 16" wheels fit. I would need to droop to Z3 2.8 discs and calipers (and wasn't prepared to do this). I've now fitted M Turbo Groove and Red Stuff on 17".

Something for you to consider...

I think you may get yourself tied up in knots, legally. Kit cars are a mis-mash of various parts that were never designed to be used together.

I'll be very appreciative of any advice, but anything you put in print could come back to haunt you. I'm just a penguin on the internet, but you are a bona fide company with a good reputation.

Are you really happy to suggest fitting six pot Audi calipers to a Z3 platform, even if it may be a great solution to stopping a 500bhp mega-beast?

Just my thoughts, but I would be genuinely interested if you are happy to make suggestions (perhaps, with some sort of "try at your own risk" caveat).

As an example, can you recommend any Z3 2.8 disc / caliper setup that I could use on my M roadster?

Z3 2.8 = 193bhp
M roadster = 321bhp

Trunking removed, nothing blocked off. No side window vents. Faux speaker grill is option to give you central outward air. The feet vents fire out ok but could do with some trunking, just didn't want to spoil the look. Where are the vents on original? wink

I ordered 2x VENT6 from carbuilder yesterday afternoon, and they were delivered at 11am this morning. Great service - and great looking magazine with lots of Gucci kit to drool over smile .

I'm going to go without the central vents, but I'll add a VENT6 at each side. I'll need to block some of the central vent trunking, or there will be no flow out of the sides. I may attempt to redirect the remaining central flow away from the back of the gauges. I'm also considering adding the permanent side window vents (they are fed from the footwell vent). A slight problem with that last one is that I've lost the trunking for one side banghead .
