The r500 is seriously stressed, make the power but way up the power band (iirc max power is at nearly 9k) and is torque light and needs both looking after (warm up, warm down) and services every 5k. Very track focussed and very expensive to buy, it is a hand built engine.

If you are set on a 4 pot, a 200hp duratec would be a much better drive (less stressed, more torque, probably quicker on the road) or even the civic type r k20 engine, an outsider wouldmbe a Renault clio 192 sport engine. If you want torque then the mazda mps engine (2.3 turboed duratec) may be interesting or at the cheap end a mk2 mr2 turbo import engine.

But as has been said rorty v6 would be my choice.

v6 would be nice.. lister bell now use the toyota 3.5 (about 300 hp standard)

apparently the duratec engine can mate to the mg gearbox, and quite a few elise have had duratec conversions done, so seems an option

An MGF is about 1050-1100 kgs. Dehavilland Dino is 985 kgs. Suspension should be up to the job.

I initially read that and thought, that it didnt sound correct, but it was the 3.2 that i was thinking about. it does appear that the 3.0 was the last Italian one, with the 3.2 being a derivative of the GM High Feature V6, and being made in Melbourne Australia.

The Alfa Busso V6 came in capacities up to 3.2l, the last ones in the 156 GTA, 147GTA and Alfa GT were 3.2l and 250bhp.

The Busso looks lovely, and has the same 60 degree angle that the Dino engine had so sounds the part.

Nice looking De Havilland Dino up on Ebay at the moment. But I guess it should be for £40,000.

I was wondering, would such Evora 400+ or Exige V6 engine incl this sort SC fit in a replica base? some are fitted with a Toyota V6 engine...would be a thing, to have such with a 350-430+ hp engine in a 206-246GT replica driving

Another Dino on Ebay. £38,000. At least the advert is honest in stating that it breaks down a lot.

Thanks thats the colour chosen by original owner
The roof is bare fibreglass and recently completed by Mark Walklett
This car was the prototype car at Dare which was used to make a coupe version of the G16. So this is the only one with a factory roof
Will all be repainted at some point

Thanks Rene
I thought you might like it smile
Has targa roof panels too
Its a lovely handling car, and interesting with dogleg box and no synchro
The chassis is exactly the same as 60s g16 sports racers.
