Hi Folks,

Possibly a silly one, I am going to look at an MNR vortx and wondered if anyone can advise how the manufacturing date can vary so much from the date of registration with the DVLA?

I hope this makes sense?

If a donor car was used such as a ropey old MX5 or Sierra then the earlier date will refer to the date of registration from the donor whilst the newer date would be the completion and first registration date for the MNR.

Has it got an age related registration plate or a Q plate?

It's on an H plate.

So it's carrying the original 1990 registration number of the donor, but was (correctly) registered as an MNR in 1998.

Thankyou all, knew it had to be something relatively simple but just couldn't figure out what.

Much appreciated.

The registration may not be that of the original donor - this can be an issue when trying to source replacements for parts from the donor.
My Quantum (registered as a Quantum in 2009) doesn't show an earlier date of registration just 'date of first registration 2009'. The donor vehicle was a 1987 Fiesta of which the V5C and all documentation were supplied to DVLA. They allocated an 'age-related mark', so it still has an E prefix plate, but it's not from the donor.

It sold before I could look at it, typical. The hunt continues!
