Is it me or is the rice of crossflow powered kit cars silly these days! I am regularly seeing adverts for Westfields or similar with standard crossflows producing about 120bhp for anything up to 8k!. This, in my opinion, is about 3k too much regardless of the build quallity and the finish of the car. Vauxhall engined cars are starting to dip below the 10k mark and I believe that soon there will be the higher capicity K Series engined cars oat a similar price.
A friend who has a Westfield ppowered by a 1700cc crossflow enquired how much money it would cost to reach 200 bhp, the answer was very little change from 10k. My point is these engines are expensive to achieve ultimate, perhaps even competitive, power from, and yet sellers still ask high prices for the cars. Whether this is an attempt to get as much money for the car as possible before winter really kicks in I do not know, all I believe is the majority of crossflow powered cars are overpriced, especially considering the other engines availible. Your thoughts would be most welcome on this issue
cheers!

Well build a Locost then! I know of many people who've built them for less than a grand let alone 3.

oh i plan too! htats my winter project if i can get my parents garage for the build period!. my point was the fact that there are loads of cars tout there that do not sell as the owner is asking (in relative terms) too much. Pricing a 1700XF Westfield at 8k is silly when Vauxhall 2L cars are not much more.

Locost will probably be an MK Engineering chassis and a 1380XF engine...I cannot wait!!!
