Yes, that California tag was on the car when it arrived.
And that guy sitting in the car in the picture, I think I outbid him by a couple bucks on the eBay auction!

still looks confusing...some lower numbers are mk4 too, even as low as 18/002 is mk4.

when I look at those cars ala mk3 and mk4 I always see then lke, the round ass is mk3 and the flat ass is mk4

I guess thats why its so mixed up, also in the list? anyways, confusing it is
biggrin
It is confusing. But one thing to bear in mind is that it wasn't necessaily the case that consecutive chassis numbers were built and sold consecutively. For instance, a (Mk3 1800S) chassis could have been started but then put to one side while another (later chassis number) was given priority and built to a specific customer specification, possiblly the 'new' MkIV on offer. Once that was finished and out the door they would return to the part finished Mk3 1800S, finish it and eventually sell it. Around this time period TVR were probably organising the production process around rather sporadic demand

We'll probably never now know for sure which chassis humber represented which model, but if an owner contacts the TVRCC to check the (ffactory) records then maybe they will post what they find on this board.

Merry Xmas everyone.

I reached out to the TVRCCNA and have some more details, "Your car, 18/042, is not the very last Mk. III 1800S produced, but the next to last. The very last one was 18/044. 18/043 was a Mk. IV 1800S. Factory records indicate that your car shows a build date of Aug. 13, 1966 and that its original color was Sherwood Green. There is also a note attached that the car was fitted with a Vixen bonnet. Incidentally, the last Mk. III 1800S built was also left hand drive and was Riviera Blue in color (originally) and shows a build date the same as your car."

Sherwood green just might be in order for its 50th birthday! I'm sure that you have a picture of that color somewhere that you could share ;-)

Anyone know the color code?
