I imagine on a 2500M the gearbox is Triumph.
So can an Overdrive be fitted like on a Triumph GT6, fixed to Gearbox Output.
Was an Overdrive an Option on the 2500M and if so what Overdrive.
Thanks in advance if someone knows

Would have been a Laycock, probably a J type.

Hi Tim,
thanks. I know someone who is in the process of buying a lhd 2500M and it doesn't have an Overdrive. He asked on the French TVR Club Forum if it is possible to fit an Overdrive.
Imho i think to have an Overdrive is a nice 60/70s thing.

Swap transmissions from non Laycock De Normanville O/D to O/D type. Use one with an A type, not J type. A type is stronger, and better suited to any engine performance upgrades your friend might perform, or that the car may already have.

Adding the Laycock O/D to an existing gearbox involves several costly parts. Shorter tail shaft being the one that comes to mind immediately.

Thanks,
sounds like the easiest way is to find a Gearbox with already an Overdrive

I would speak to Gary at TRGB he’s done a lot of work on TVR 2500 gearboxes and has a graveyard of parts.
