Guys ( I'm assuming there aren't too many Female Taimr Owners out there !!! )

I'm trying to start a Taimar Registry.

I've started with some pretty old Info & surfed a lot ..... ( waaaayyy too much !! ) to find as much as I can.

I have now positively I'D about 320 cars. .... BUT

a lot of this data is from the early 80's so I have no idea if the cars still exist or are rotting under a hedge somewhere.

If you KNOW of a car that has been written off / Scrapped / Stolen & never found etc etc. Can I ask you to contact me with some basic data.

I am a TVRCC Member ( #5268 ) & own my Taimar ( 4037FM ) since 1990.

Given that we started with 395 "Normal" cars & 30 "Blowers", It can't be impossible to trace a large number of the existing cars down.

If you'd also like to positively ID any cars (eg I own .... FM ) I'd be glad to here from you.

Ultimatley I'd like to start a "proper" Taimar registry, where the owners can "OPT in". Loads of other cars / models have this. I'm amazed there's nothing out there for Taimars

All the Best
Steve

Maybe if you put the List here then owner's could add their car with chassis number and present colour.
I don't think reg numbers are of any use as many cars change them. My 3000S has had 3 different reg numbers.

Does anyone know how many prototypes were built ?

I‘ve evidence & pics of 2 till now.

Also

Does anyone know how many had tailgate locks & not solenoids ?

If my chassis number list is correct around 28 must have left the factory with locks

This is the "latest" one I can find => https://www.findlotsonline.com/auction-lot-details...

It claims Chassis # is 3893 FM & according to my sources the first "Production" Taimar ( not Turbo ) was 3838FM .... Not all cars between 3838 & 3893 were Taimars... But I've found details on about 28 in that range.

Hi Alan,

I'd feel uncomfortable about posting details about other peoples cars, that's why I'd like to set it up on an opt-in basis. I own a Daimler Dart & they publish a paper book each year listing chassis, address, reg no etc etc ... But not engines No's etc. The reasoning is, that they are so rare, if one ever got nicked, It would be pretty easy to identify / find / Notice it. They have found about 1700 of the 2500 cars. ( Built 1959 - 1964 )

I only have 395 Taimars to find :-)

Reg Numbers. Yes I totally agree. I have had 4 different numbers on my Taimar over the last 30 years.

Thanks for your input
Steve

I’ve done this with the Tuscan V6’s, but on reg numbers (which can lead to double counting) and a total of 58 so far of which about 52 are confirmed as physically in existence.

The trouble with chassis numbers is people are reluctant to give them for whatever reason, and sadly the opt in schemes on other marques are rarely more than a tiny proportion.

If you look them up on the vehicle smart app at least you can see the car details which is a good lead as to survival.

As usual - any Tuscan current or past owners please pm me with the reg and colour !

Hi V6Pushfit ( I would say Alphonso, but I'm not sure I believe that ),

I agree fully. Until now I haven't contacted many people. Of those I've actively tried to contact about 50% have reacted & of those all have been positive

Currently I've limited my research to trawling various forums, doing lots of internet searches, youtube etc, scanning through pages & pages & Pages of internet pictures, checking various "for Sale" adverts & of course calling a few very knowledgable TVR people ( I hasten to add, I haven't called everyone I know though )

Occasionally, something really good turns up. I found this yesterday => https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4npg0
TRhe video is 13 years old ( at least ). I also found an entry on a French Forum, where a guy wrote the car featured in the video is his car & he has converted it to LHD. Those posts are from around 2009 .... the trail goes cold after that ... but not the search !

So, a quick overview of my findings ... I have 3 Prototypes. with photos & Reg plates.

From the "Accepted" 1st chassis # to the last "Accepted" chassis # ( 3838 - 4707 - this information widely available in most books & Wikipedia ) I have photo "evidence" of about 140 linked to their chassis numbers.

I have about 80 "ODD" chassis numbers in the "accepted" range, where I have zero information ( MOST Taimars have ODD numbers. Most M's & S's have EVEN numbers )

I have about 40 cars where I have found evidence of them ( Mostly photo's but quite a few Forum posts - not just PH ) where I can't link them to a chassis # yet.

I have photo evidence of 1 that has been scrapped => https://www.flickr.com/photos/sandertoonen/1875778...
But I'm in touch with someone who has scrapped a few ( accident damaged cars ) for spares.

& finally, I have contacts to some very nice people who have large photo collections & are prepared to let me have copies of some of their photos.

I realize there is a very thin line between a healthy interest & invading personal privacy. I hope I am & stay on the right side of this line.

I'm also sure there is a LOT of info out there & it is difficult to access because of the data protection act ....

As time goes on, this info will be harder & harder to find.

Tuscan V6 .... I lived in Harrogate ( 86 - 91 ) & knew an IT consultant working for ICI Fibres. Jeff Pole. Jeff had 700 JKP as his daily driver. ( His wife was Karen - I'm told they split up - hence JKP ) . I belive 700 JKP is now DWY 515 H. Jeff is one of the reasons I bought my Taimar. He also had PWC 600 ( 1800S - Success against the odds Pg 91 - Various recent Sprint mags ) at the same time. This is now a well known racer. Jeff was involved in the Marcos Club too. An interesting guy.

Thanks. I’m aware of that Tuscan, from memory recently restored and a lovely car.

Hi,

I'm still working on it off-line, collecting data. I've already secured a web-site name & need to work out how to present the data. With the current data protection laws, I have to be quite careful about what I show.

I have a couple of questions about your car. A couple have come up for sale recently that will require work & a couple that will probably not. Have I understood it correctly, yours is the blue one with a cream sunroof, that was in eBay for a couple of days ?
