thanks for the link and mail about the TVR Tuscan V6 group on FB.

I was on FB a long time, but after a few bans after I posted truths and so on and then it became even worse with the covid time were even friends and veteran mates fall for the genjabs after I warned them many times, it became to much for me and I deleted my normal familie/friends page and my other only cars page, I liked what was on there and followed many car pages also a few TVR pages and way more.

So, I'm now a few years from FB and more on alternative news sites, no car sites, yeah only PH

I just followed that link but its for members only, I can't look without membership of FB
but I hope the Page can grow and I hope they will post also here on PH many won't go on FB Big Tech again.

The car groups are THE only reason to be on FB,you will miss out loads if you aren't. Cars and parts up for sale as long as you are sensible and avoid the scammers. It's all the other self serving b*llox on there that you have to ignore or screen out.

Why don’t you start on FB again and just stay away from the Covid/jab pages and keep it real.

Thanks for that GT, it looks like RHD and I’ve made enquiries with Australia to see if they know anything about it.

Ah yeah, now I looked a bit better and spotted no side mirror on the right side, only one on the left side for RHD driver :-)
I also was mislead by the Victoria plate, which I thought ow Amerika hahah.

hope you get an answer from Australia, btw is this an original color? not seen that often I think (or forgot) on this type.

I think it may have been BLU164H originally, but that’s odd as it should have the early slat side vents but they are the later S2 type.

indeed, this one had S3 type vents, the BLU-164H has the S2 vents and it looks at the time a black-ish roof? and ow, even not a side mirror hehe but them maybe they did a resto overthere.

Hmmm I doubt anyone would change the vents, but the only light blue I have recorded as being in Oz is that car and well done for finding the photo I don’t have access to mine this weekend.
The problem over there apparently is that cars are regularly imported and exported without TVRCC being aware. It may even be a vixen it wouldn’t be the first time in the absence of being able to find a Tuscan to photograph!

Aside from the vents, the square grill mesh and the sunroof both point towards it being a much later car than BLU. I would bet it’s a 71/72 Vixen.

Hi,

Just joined and wondered if you had any information about the TVR Tuscan V6 reg YLK 12G. I think my Dad was the first owner. He died last year and I found a photo of the car which has brought back a lot of old memories.

I would love to know if the car is still on the road, or better still who owns it. I see from the DVLA website a logbook was issued in 1995, but that's all I can find out.

Silly things old photos, but it's stirred up a very strong desire to own one,

Thanks
Ben

This is an odd one, it checks out as a Tuscan in that its engine size is V6 Essex and registered 24th June 1969 but the factory records don't fit with this date period as there are no unknown cars from 1969 apart from one which I believe was LHD from factory? If it was LHD its this one and its long disappeared. It would really help if you could find the chassis number.

Alternatively it was a Vixen which someone fitted a V6 engine into. Could you post a photo?

Thanks for the update. I do remember seeing my Dad lowering an engine into the car. I don't remember him spending a lot of time building it or doing much else, so maybe, as you say, it could be a Vixen with an engine upgrade. I can't see how to upload a photo. Perhaps I haven't been signed up for long enough.....?

You should be able to upload a photo under 'upload an image' on the reply. If you have photos of the dash/engine bay it would also help identify it.

Click 'reply' and it will open a reply to topic box. Below the row of Icons should be 4 text buttons, the last of which is 'upload an image'. Just follow through from there. It should be straight forward unless as you say the option isn't there for you.

Re the Tuscan history, if your Dad was the first owner, he may have purchased it as a kit which was an option to avoid paying VAT. I'm not sure how it worked but I think you could buy a kit excluding the engine and fit your own. In that case it possibly may not have been recorded by the factory as a Tuscan.

The factory sold a specific chassis for the Tuscan, doesn't stop someone 'shoehorning a bigger lump in' a Vixen but it would still be a Vixen chassis.

Interesting. What is the actual difference between the Tuscan and Vixen chassis ?

Engine mounts, gearbox mounts, diff mounts. The V6 chassis also has a bolt in cross brace that goes between the lower chassis rails under the back half of the sump and the cross tube behind the radiator is different and has mounts for an electric fan.

Other than an under engine brace, just fixings then. The core chassis are the same.

I have seen a different height arched top tube behind the engine. This wasn't Tuscan / Vixen specific?
