Is the WRC back on Ch5 again this year?
Yes, it is, and the preview programme on Spike the week before. I've set my PVR for the year smile

well just started my weeks trial of the new WRC+. I'm in work all weekend so can hopefully take full advantage of it. make an educated decision if I need the full package for the rest of the year then, or if I just make do with RedBullTV and the free codes (if any this year) are given out for WRC+.

Monte starts tomorrow night. I've no idea who's going to take it, Ogier obviously one of, if not the favourite. Gifted the win last season but as he's now had a full season and serious development time in the car could still be the strongest contender.

In local rallying news, Brean Sands Stages this weekend too. never been but hear its a decent little event around the caravan park. gutted not to be going down this year as my nephew is part of car 28's service crew.
Entry list looks mixed and pretty decent - http://www.crswrallies.co.uk/entrylist.html
I might try that trial too this week. Really looking forward to the Monte, my fave event.

I'm not expecting it to run smoothly for this event, but should hopefully get an idea of how its all going to work.

Agreed! How did the Ferrari get on in the end?
I couldn't find results online anywhere so waited till seeing Motorsport news today.

The black Ferrari finished 6th after holding 4th for a while ,was slowed by electrical faults and a misfire.

Driver set a 4th fastest time on one stage ,which came as a surprise to him apparently.

I see our Terry was fastest on shakedown, Meeke fourth happy he had no mishaps can’t wait, U Tube boys have been busy posting some great content already.

As ever, RivieraRally worth checking out on YouTube. Liking the tweaked Toyota livery on first viewing.

Also interesting that the 1 and 2 Fords are now both carrying Red Bull colours - makes them look a lot more 'works' than last year.

Shame the weather looks like it's going to be mild...

Looking forward to the start and first stage tonight!

Not a great start to new WRC+ Thingy me. My free trail doesn’t work via the app, any video under the new subscription package asks me to pay the months subscription rolleyes not great considering it’s how I’m likely to be watching everything over the weekend here in work. Difficult to judge if its teething problems or just weird lock out of features under the free trial for mobiles?

Drama already in SS1, Ogier spins while Neuville has stopped in a ditch. Tanak has also had a moment!

Edit: Neuville moving again.

Signed up to the app today with a month free trial - got it working on my iPhone, laptop and best of all Amazon Firestick - so am watching it on my main telly.....thumbup

Slightly hit and miss - mainly a map and interviews, better than nothing - a good start to build on, really hope they get more action of the cars on stages going forward. Now I've got it on the Firestick, if they improve the coverage then my BT subscription could be at risk.

Good start to the event - mixing up well - shame Evans got a puncture, but plenty of rally left. The first two events of the year really are specialist events, so points are key.

I do wonder what happened to the live BT Sport coverage? For the last 3-4 years, they've had the first stage of the Monte on live......I was expecting the same again; which is why I didn't bother signing up for the new service. I hope they're not cutting back on live TV stage coverage - and trying to get people to sign up to WRC All Live, as that's a poor strategy....

And all the while I could watch the Rolex 24 Hour qualifying free, and without signing up.....

I believe Bt Sport has a stage at lunch on Saturday with 2 on Sunday. I guess Wrc+ wanted exclusive rights to the 1st stage. I managed to find a stream for SS1 on Facebook, and once that ended up watching live stage side videos from stage side spectators for that and ss2, which was pretty cool.

Mad start to the event with loads of spins etc. Of course Ogier had to emerge in the lead!

I was hoping the same, BT are still doing some coverage over the weekend - I suspect more than enough to annoy my family!! However there is a month free trial for the WRC app - which has been posted on BRF. I was already a member having been given free access for in 2016 after marshalling on GB. So if I can get in Monte and Sweden, then think about cancelling. I have a feeling full rallying all the time my get a bit much.

I'm currently sitting here watching the drivers being interviewed at service....I really should go to bed!! The actual onstage footage has been minimal tonight, so in all honesty to keep my custom there will need to be a major improvement. At least the traditional programs on the likes of BT sport are proper coverage.

Kris Meeke having a happy start to the year.....after 2 stages he sounds really dejected....hope he picks up again.

They struggled tonight with low cloud which meant the helicopter couldn't take off meaning camera signal was restricted (So I read). Hopefully they'll build on it and it'll improve as we progress through the season.
