Actual Snow depth map

If this warm winter is the norm in the future they will have to do something for sure.

Thanks for that link to snow depths.

I'm not sure how far Varmland goes north but I guess most of it was in the 0 cm or the 3-10 cms bit.

hmm, not sure. Swedish rally has been cancelled once in 47 years for lack of snow, 1990, and 2005 was a bit slushy

Let's not worry about it..

Yeah not many years ago we drowned in snow here. I remember Ogier and the top drivers complaining about the snowfall making it harder for the first drivers. They seem to expect a laboratory with 100% fair and consistent conditions, its kind of the opposite of what rally should be. A bit stupid they couldn't just put gravel tyres on and drive it as it is, and just accept its a warm year.

Good results for Elfyn and the power stage to Rovenpera; changeable conditions always helps mix it up

Fantastic result for them; second fabulous performance in a new car/team. Bodes well for the rest of the season.

Have Autosport given up on rallying...??? Main part of the home page is Rally Sweden free......

Wonder what the odds of Evans being WC are?

Superb result for Elfyn Evans. Rovanpera winning the power stage was pretty decent for a 19 yr old. Great Coverage on WRC.

I was going to post that can we hope for a sustained championship push from him ?

Would be great to have a British champ again, to add to Colin and Richard.

He certainly seems to have the pace as a driver, he's not got the car to do the job and he's a couple of years in so he knows the whole calendar now. The big thing he has to overcome of course is his rivals and 2 slightly out there, bit different rallies in it seems like he's certainly got the pace. Of course there us always the luck factor that's needed when it comes to winning any championship.

Can someone explain the tyre situation in Sweden please?

Obviously some stages were snowy, some, from the footage I have seen were pure gravel., so why could they no run gravel tyres on those, why were they still using studs, seems crazy!

I guess there might still be patches in each stage, I have also talk about tyres cutting up the surface too much, but surely a studded tyre does more damage?

As far as I know, because the rule book says 'winter rally = studded tyres' and thats that.

Brilliant win for Elfyn and Scott, absolutely bossed it! For some reason I was more nervous watching them on the last stage, than I was with Kris Meeke!

Rovenpara is something else, it wont be long until he is winning!

So, with a tie at the top, who gets to open the road in the next round? Do they draw lots or flip a coin?

And not a single word on any news channel. PR generally seems to be non-existent.

Rallying is too male, too white and too environmentally unfriendly to be on the news. Elfyn's win was on the BBC Sport homepage, right at the bottom but at least it was there!
