Race against the clock is still a race, the clue is in the word 'race'
Who is arguing - I'm not.

I prefer the expression "competition car" rather than "race car" (too American) or "racing car" anyway. I have competed in Sprints in my Caterham - but I've never competed in a race. I've held a Competition Licence but never a Race Licence.

If we are talking circuit racing cars, then probably a JPS Lotus F1 car more than likely the turboe era version

But for plain old all time favourite competition car, then i would have to go with the ur-quattro

I presume it's the colours you like then smile

There were two separate JPS Lotus eras -

1972 to 1978 inclusive

1982 to 1986 inclusive

The original 1972 version of the scheme was black and gold - just like the ciggie box. For 1973 it was decided to us yellow rather than hold in the colour scheme as gold did not show up that well on TV, especially as many were still watching on black and white TV sets.

1972 Lotus 72

Monaco 1972

Monaco 1973

I like the original Gold Leaf scheme worn by the 72 in 1970 and 1971 -

Ah , Dave Walker , or 'who?' as younger F1 fans call him . The man who was the template for Kevin Magnussen's dad Jan - brilliant in F3 and unable to replicate his form in Big School

Still, better than Richard Robarts , who rose without trace to a Brabham drive in '74 , sunk without trace 4 races later and turned up at Prescott 45 years later ...

Yeah it was the colour scheme as such but i was always a fan of the turbo cars as such but then i also remember Jim Richards driving a 635csi in JPS colours in Australia.

The first colour scheme i remember from F1 was the Yardley McLaren colours back in the day.
