This thread is getting like the Michael Schumacher one for me, always very nervous to click it when it pops up.

I'm glad there has been progress, fingers x'd for him.

Alex has been released to a rehab facility which I can only assume is great news!

“After the suspension of sedation, the normality of the cardio-respiratory and metabolic parameters, the stability of the general clinical conditions and the neurological picture allowed the transfer of the patient to a specialised recovery and functional rehabilitation centre. Alex Zanardi was therefore transferred to another facility today.”

I appreciate there's probably a long way to go, but what a true fighter that guy is.

Glad to hear that hes out of the induced coma and he's well enough to be moved to a rehab facility. Good stuff

I haven't seen any updates on his condition since 24th July.
Does anybody know how he is progressing?

An Italian friend has just sent me the following update:

'The San Raffaele hospital just released some more news about Alex. His conditions have been slowly improving and he's showing significant clincal improvement, so his care has been dropped from intensive to semi-intensive.'

Slow but steady is positive news.

I was wondering how he was getting on - the prolonged silence was worrying. Fingers crossed for further improvement and a return to some kind of normality.

Now reported that Alex is 'showing signs of interaction' which is a good sign?

3 months on and only just able to respond to sounds? That doesn't sound great to me, if anyone can do it though hopefully Alex can.

I don't think this is good news at all. The window for significant recovery doesn't last long and I'm disappointed to hear he's still in such an impaired state. I sincerely hope I'm proven wrong.

"responds with transient and initial signs of interaction with the environment" - sounds pretty awful frown
