Quite fancy seeing this. But - and I never thought I'd say this - there are too many Escorts...I think the Escorts have won every running of the event; not really a surprise, as it's the staple of UK rallying - and there is a whole industry built around them.
As has already been said, other European Historic events have more variety - but they tend to be more of a 'show' with a bigger budget/ big names. The R.A.C is a proper rally, and a true test - which is maybe why we don't see the big names.
However, I'm looking forward to it.

I would prefer a show rather than a slightly stuffy proper rally, I get why it is appealing, but the reason the events abroad particularly in Italy and Germany are so popular are the weather obviously and they get some of the old names in proper old cars and more modern stuff.
I would like to see both, RAC is basically a homage to a real event, it is not fun in any way, which is very British, but also a bit of a shame. there is surely room for both.

Just read that the Woodpecker rally in September is to be non-spectator! Or as driver Damian Cole says, the organisers are using covid as an excuse for an easy life!
Covid has presented event organisers with loads of issues and new ways of doing things have had to be invented. And the organisers are doing all this in their own time and at their own expense so that people like Damian can enjoy their hobby. Putting in processes to allow spectators in the current situation will be way down the list of priorities. If the situation has changed in a few weeks I suppose they might consider some spectator access but as things stand right now spectators are not allowed (that's MSUK requirements not event organisers) so organisers have to plan on that basis which is what the Woodpecker team are doing. I assume Damian is aware of the blue book section about organiser abuse and that it applies to social media posts, it'd be a shame if he has actually posted a derogatory comment and MSUK see it and take his licence away.

That's disappointing but not surprising. I see that they're only using the Radnor forest complex - as that is in Wales; English forests aren't available until the end of September. Haye Park was always a nice stage to spectate in. As no spectators are not permitted, one would hope there might be some kind of stream - but that's unlikely to happen.
