Gold Coast 500 this weekend.

I only watched the Sunday race. I fell asleep and didn’t really miss anything.

So certainly not the greatest season. However did anyone see the last race at Adelaide?? WOW maybe the best supercar race I’ve seen for a few years. Just show the formula can work…..

I’m intrigued to see how the chase format will work next year. I like it in NASCAR not sure how it will fit with supercars.

If they could just hurry up and replace the ancient tyre they run on to get rid of the front overheating then I think the racing would be great. I’ve been disappointed overall with this season. Just as I was with last season.

Hopefully next year will be an improvement. If only they could get rid of the tired old commentary team. 🙄

Great last round of the season, the last race had last day of school written all over it!

I enjoyed the season overall and the teams/organisers seem to have gotten their heads around Gen3.

Hopefully 2025 will be competitive with several teams fighting for the championship.

Couldn't disagree more, I think the commentary and presenting team add to the sport.

Totally agree, the comms and presenting team especially Larko are great.
The shouty gits on Sky could learn a thing or two from these guys.

Larko is great. Riana is great. Chad Neylon is great. Even Garth Tander is pretty good. But Skaife and Crompo are tired and played out and they miss sooooo much of the action while blabbering on about nonsense. They need a proper professional commentator, rather than an ex driver calling the race.

I stopped watching the series a few years ago (largely due to the hopeless commentary), tuned in recently and couldn't believe Crompton and Skaife were STILL on! They are the worst commentators I've ever experienced in any sport! Perhaps they appeal to the "football fan" types which V*SC seem intent on attracting, despite losing virtually all true motorsport enthusiasts!

And where is your data to back up that statement?

Jess is my pet hate. She takes so long to ask a question and it's always variations on how do you feel, what does it mean etc over and over.

Purely anecdotal... given my circle is 50% fellow ex drivers and other contacts from my past in motorsport, and I don't know any who still follow this series. There is no doubt the organisers decided years ago that money was more important than good racing.

Announced today the Triple Eight are moving to Ford for 2026 and becoming the homologation team, taking this away from Dick Johnson Racing.

Serious questions about GM/Chevrolet's commitment going forward as they now don't have a homologation team. Could they drop out come 2026?

Not surprising tbh. T8/Red Bull want to be in the most competitive package and going forward that aint gonna be in the Camaro.

Might switch to Erebus as they're already building chassis for other teams?

I wouldn’t be surprised if GM leave.

The local GM line up is now Chevrolet Silverado and Cadillac SUV EVs with a few Corvettes, so they don’t have anything else to run in Supercars.

Be a pity to lose a manufacturer right on the cusp of Toyota joining.

I’d expect teams would still run Camaros in 2026 if GM pulled the pin.

They ran Holdens until 2022 despite them ceasing to exist at the end of 2020.

I'm the other way around. Many people I know who didn't follow the series before have started to over the last couple of years. Almost without exception they are under 30. Perhaps it's the fan base changing rather than dropping?

I saw an ad yesterday for the new 2025 format. They’ve split the season in 3: Sprint, Enduro, Finals.

https://www.supercars.com/news/supercars-2025-new-...

It’s no longer best driver across the season wins, which is unusual.

Off to social media channels to check out the Bogan meltdown. Clearly this will all somehow be RD’s handiwork hehe

It's not a reset like the similar NASCAR setup is. They've talked about it a lot on the coverage of last season.

Haven't seen anything about that (probably because I've stopped watching and unfollowed anything to do with the circus). Sounds like they're following the AFL system (unsurprising as their target market is clearly football fans!)
The AFL season is a home & away league, which then switches to a knockout final series for the top 8 teams in the league
