Sabine Schmitz - two years gone...

It will be strange to go the NS and not see her around. She was one of those people with a huge extrovert personality and was a lot of fun apart from her obvious talent as a driver. I took the pic below when she was driving my then-new 7.2 RS. A great loss to have left us so young. Died March 16 2021.

It's funny but I saw this clip on a repeat recently & thought it was one of the best ever sections from 5th Gear, fantastic TV imo

Just watched the Top Gear episode where she took a diesel S-Type Jag round the Nurbergring.

She was lovely.

Still get the odd pang when I go to the Ring.She brought a lot of life and intensity to the days there for me.

Indeed. I met her back in the 90s. In those days the NS was not what it is today in terms of popularity etc. She really was the most vivacious and endearing personality, I was so delighted when she appeared on Top Gear and started to become more widely appreciated, truly a rather special person with a unique, unnerving and intimate mastery of what I regard as an extraordinarily demanding track, particularly in the wet.

By far my favourite German RIP Queen of the Ring

Two years already. She drove my car around the 'ring according to the original owner and absolutely loved it-said if it was left hand drive she wouldn't let it leave Germany.

The Top Gear tribute was a lovely bit of TV, one of those people who you couldn't help but love as soon as you met her.
