Had to revisit this thread because of the ineptness of our council. The incompetents have been trying to get away with surface dressing roads and these repairs last all of 5 minutes. Alas when they actually trying to relay a road, it takes them an astonishing amount of time.

Weeks to do a few car lengths worth on a roundabout, causing huge traffic problems in the rush. Their project management skills are a joke.
Not even a few car lengths in the case of Chester Road, Macclesfield's new 'roundabout'. I use inverted commas because for the last month you haven't been able to go round it. 4 way traffic lights, with one section an unfinished newbuild estate with only a handful of people living there. so three way lights or even two would cover the job of traffic management. There is no work at the roundabout, nor has there been since the lights went up over a month ago. As this is a major feeder into town it is chaos. If you're lucky and narrow your eyes sometimes you can spot a highways van parked near a set of (non-functional) temporary lights hiding a man eating a butty. A total p*ss-take that's starting to border on surreal as the sheep in cars go about their everyday business being delayed for absolutely no reason and not complaining either.
