I worked on a Superb last week - opened the boot looking for a broken wire and wondered why they'd cheaped-out on a parcel-shelf instead of a proper rear shelf.

Then I realised it's both a saloon (boot opens) or hatch (whole back with glass opens) - really quite neatly done (tho MANY wires were broken - obv)

Only really useful to taxi drivers I guess - but that's 99% of what Superbs are used for so it's great to see one being taken to another level entirely (tho I suspect he's feeding money into it and it's just being burned - but hey, it'll be brilliant for the next owner smile )
That is the previous version, unfortunately the current one is a simple hatchback or an estate, the dual boot is not available any more.

Before this one I also had the previous model (albeit in an estate, combi, guise). Loved it as well and with a remap it was a rather nippy car too.

I was at Vmax with you, remember you disappearing off into the distance on the run down to the start line and thinking "there is no way that Skoda is standard"

Little did I know the scale of the mods!
Cool! Which car were you driving? smile

Steering wheel looks great - where did you get it done?
I bought it from Skoda. In some countries it is the steering wheel for the Sportline 280

Just watched one of the videos you posted, what's the lag between gear selection (paddle select and change) seems like a half a second of so?
Not sure, there is not much lag really.
Did you notice the lag by listening to the sound, watching the gear number or watching the rpm?

Between you hitting the paddle and the note change, it could just be an audio sync thing on youtube.
I've never experienced a VAG group DSG box in person so I was curious.
I have similar although by different name on my GTR R35 and that's instantaneous hence the question.

Awesome build though and congrats on a monster.
Quite possibly an audio sync issue. Changes are quite fast.
R35 most likely even faster but I am upgrading my DSG map soon so I may catch up wink

Your car for me should have been the cover car.
A Skoda, and a Superb at that, a tuning magazine cover? Maybe in another 10 years time smile

Shopping for a superb now. I've just checked HowManyLeft and there seem to be a pretty minimal number on the road (great).

How impressive. I love how subtle it is too - utterly brilliant.

Do you have a link to a Skoda forum where we can read about the car in more detail please? Also, it would be great to find out where you had the car tuned please.

Sure, have a, look at the link below. It has all info about the built, tuner etc. :

If the magazine's want to carry on the stigma of Skoda's then that's poor imo. How many mad power Superbs are there compared to yellow seat leons? Exactly. They had an opportunity and didn't take it.
IMHO it's not the magazine that is to blame but the people that read the magazine who, at the end, dictate what's on the cover. Many more Cupra others modify their cars than Skoda Superb ones (thus Skoda not selling a VRS Superb, nor even a Fabia VRS anymore...).

i would be very surprised ifr the 280 superb produces that as standard, i would say at least 300bhp, it is just vw doesn't want skoda to have on a paper a powerful car. So still fast as standard. They are very interesting cars.
Limited by the map and exhaust. Mine made 285 and 330 with a tuning box.

Great to see all the history in one place, seen bits and pieces here, on Briskoda and YouTube. Bonkers motor!

My L&K 280 arrives in November, it's a company car so will be remaining resolutely standard but I'm looking forward to it.
Cough JB4 cough

That's a fraction worse than the mileage I used to get out of my parents FWD Passat VR6. Given yours is 4WD and developing about 3 times the power, I'd say you were doing "quite well".
To be honest it's all a bit of a nonsense. Drive it normally and it'll do 30 mpg because it's making about 70 - 100hp on a light throttle. Drive it flat out for any length of time and it will do less than 10mpg and probably explode.
Agree for the 10mpg, but why explode? Well mapped cars, especially this one that has been forged can last for long track sessions without any issues, proved over and over again, while stock cars stop performing due to overheating.

My point is the risk of something going wrong mechanically is far lower when driving responsibly and even under hard acceleration, you're only using the performance for a very short period. That's different to running it flat out, under load for a prolonged period where components working outside their design specification are more likely to fail. Events like VMax are great for killing modified cars for this reason. Your point about mapping is entirely correct though.
TBH one of the reasons I run at vmax was to test if the engine would take it (and it was stock at the time, before I forged it) and it did perfectly well even with quite a few top speed runs on that day!
