Should be quite easy to fit? It’s a direct replacement isn’t it?

The cables are much easier to undo if you remove the centre console, you can access the cable retaining clips to unlock/lock them from down there.

Yes, that would be the way to do it! I learned the hard way...

As did I mate hehe

I had a buddyclub shirt shifter on mine, didn’t really like it, preferred the feel of the OEM shift myself!

The Honda shifter that I took out had some play in it, and hopefully that explains some of the missed gear changes. Did think about a direct replacement..

Civic is back on the road. New gear shifter is a vast improvement over the previous, and hopefully that means that missed gears are a thing of the past.

Embarassing moment at the petrol station where the fuel cap release was not interested. Just a ten minute fix and impressed that the design allows for easy tigthening of the mechanism due to inevitable slack over time, very Honda.

Looking forward to some dry roads now, and need to make tyre decisions for future speed events.

Civic has survived a test day and first meeting at Gurston Down. Really highlights the need for more power and some sticky tyres, and a bit more effort from the driver.

Even grass cutting didn't improve the times..

New gearshift is a vast improvement. Took the car to a local rolling road and they recorded a pretty low peak bhp, but not sure that's totally accurate.

Recorded 135 WHP, but I don't think he revved it all the way. Pretty clear that it's all at the top end.

Yes that does seem very low. You’d think you would have noticed if it’s that low!

It’s certainly doesn’t feel slower than my Cooper S. Dodgy test I reckon.

Wiscombe today. Went from a terrifying morning, to a fun afternoon. Never really dry and grip not the best.

Second run was a bit average, tried to push harder and just understeered. Will have better tyres for the next event.

So, new tyres make a difference! Now running soft Maxsports on the front of the car.. but will take some getting used to. A damp Wiscombe probably wasn't the best test, and somehow managed a small "off" at the final corner. No damage done.

Trying a new venue at Charmouth next.

Need to make a call on what to do about more "go". Do I concentrate on sorting the final drive or more power for 2020? Can't afford both in the short term.

Charmouth is very different to Wis, not as good but safer for the most part.

Think it's changed (again) since I last did it about 4yrs ago.

Yes, it's a bit longer now I think. Going to treat it as a test day, and avoid hitting hay bales! It's my closest venue, so should have done it a long time ago. Fingers crossed for a dry day.

I’d forgotton how hard learning a new venue can be, even one that only takes 30secs! Anyway, enjoyed a day out at manor farm hillclimb and have learnt what needs work on and how I need to improve my driving. Was a great view also.

I’ve got some polynushed lower arms, so they need to go on. Struggling with understeer, so need to work on the set up.

Back to gurston on Saturday, so a better test of where I’m at, or not.

The UK weather is doing its best to ruin the motorsport summer. At least we got one dry run at Gurston, and that was the best of the year so far. The car won its first pot! But civic really needs a lower vtec / gearing for the twisty bits, plus a bit more effort from me.

Bit of a summer break now and save up some funds.

Been using the car on the road a bit more, and seems to help with learning the car. Also learnt what a loose tie rod bolt feels like and the importance of retaining wire! No harm done and the car now drives in a straight line..

Wiscombe yesterday and starting to get where I thought the car may be, took a second off my best time.

It's certainly one of the best motorsport venues and a real challenge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUzqLVVIQgI

Plans for the winter. Improved induction / intake, better final drive (hopefully), get it mapped, baffled sump, put the poly lower arms on, lower the weight if possible. Going to look at rear cage options, probably starting to push my luck.
