Hello.

By way of a brief history - I picked up a Scirocco R in Deep Black Pearl back in 2016 (lease). Absolutely adored it, and was very sad to hand it back in April 2018. I made a bit of a mistake and bought a 2014 Golf GTD thinking sensible was the way to go.

It wasn't.

No photos of the GTD - Tornado Red, grand, but not exciting - but here's a few of the R.

Since come to my senses and realised a fast petrol is just a bit of a vice I'll always have. Found this approved used September 2017 S3 saloon with about 6000 miles, had a little drive and was much in love. Drove it straight to the north coast after picking it up yesterday, did a bit of a tour about and drove back this morning. Great first day!

It's panther black crystal with a lovely deep red fleck not much in evidence in these photos. Quick once over this afternoon - Auto Finesse Avalanche snow foam, Autoglym wash, Autoglym resin polish, Poorboys Black Hole glaze and Poorboys Natty red paste wax.

Lovely car. Previous iterations of the S3 weren't the most rapid of cars but these are truly weapons today. Very modern inside now as well with the current gen MMI and drivers cockpits etc. Colour looks great too, I do see the two tone effect. I do like two-tone colours, BMW have done it well with the Black Sapphire which becomes a tad bit blue, but we wanted a proper blue car as well so got the A6 in Aventurine Blue(which looks grey in the rain!)

Ha, I also bought a new MK7 GTD back in 2014. It lasted 14 months before I traded it for a Golf R. They're nice cars, but I find it hard to believe that anyone who likes driving would be satisfied by one.

Do love the S3 saloon. How do you find the practicality?

Thanks all!

So far so practical. Dump runs are out, on account of losing the hatchback, but it's got four doors and a Haldex, and there's something very grown up about a saloon car!

It's thirsty, but I knew it would be.

Glad I'm not the only one. In its own way, it's probably the most typically Audi looking 4-door since the B5 A4.

The hatch S3s for me are very boring to look at, but the saloon just looks 'right' - this really is a great looking car. Quite nippy too!

Enjoy!

Hadn't thought of it that way, but I think you're right! It's a very Audi sort of Audi.

Continues to impress. It's a real all rounder.

I’ve loved the s3 saloon since they’ve come out, ive wanted a silver one, with a pan roof, debagded

There’s something very classy about the saloon A3 I find, it’s the perfect car, not too big not too small still very premium and a sweet spot money wise as I felt the A4 didn’t add much to the package

The saloon s3 seems to attract less knobs to it too, I’ve not got a humble 1.5 TFSI saloon in the same black as yours as I really do love it.

Great cars.

Any plans?

Dump runs are fine, if you have folding rear seats. I have 3 series saloon, and folding rear seats. It copes with everything I want to carry/dump.

Yes, I think saloons look better than hatches/estates. Hatchbacks are OK on super-minis though, out of necessity.

Nice car OP. The A/S3 saloons are great looking little cars that are well proportioned and make the hatch look very dumpy and frumpy.

Nice! I was considering getting one but as I’m currently working in rough city centre locations I bottled it!
