Excellent build and plenty to learn from so cheers!

Picked up my 250 Cup in ‘club sport’ spec today and I’m still grinning.

That is stunning.

Love these cars, and that's a brilliant example.

Small little update .

The rocker cover on the car was leaking a little bit of oil and i tracked this down to the Dephaser oil seal .

The old seal had seen better days .

New fresh OEM seal .

Old and new .

Then all installed and no more leaking rocker cover .

Next up on the long list of jobs to get through on the car was to change the gear box oil .

I ordered some Millers Motorsport CRX 75W-90 as i have run this on my last track car and had no problems with this on the track and on the road .

I also ordered a Gold magnetic gear box sump plug to finish the job off .

The gearbox oil change is a fairly easy job to do on the Megane so this did not give any problems .

A few more updates on the car now and over the Christmas holidays i got a nice few jobs done on the car .

I planed to renew all of the front suspension units on the car and have ordered some new front wishbones that were on a long lead time but eventually turned up in mid December .

I did look at just keeping my only units and changing the bushings but after research on this the Polyurethane bush inserts it looks like they suffer with failing in a short time on some of the cars and a few of the Nurburgring crowd recommend keeping with the stock OEM rubber bush set up .

First was to removed the old front wishbones .

They were still ok but were getting to the end of there life so a new set should sharpen thing up nicely .

The new units are a pain to get hold off but after 10 weeks they got delivered from Kam racing .

New units vs old .

The install was simple and that was the first part of the suspension refresh done .

Next on the list was to change out the anti rotation links for some new units .

Removing the anti rotation links was a bit of a pain and on one of them the angle grinder was needed due to rusted on bolts .

I ordered some new FAI units to replace the old units .

New units vs old .

The front drop links also looked like they could do with a change so they were removed and again this was a bit of a pain with rusted bolts .

I ordered a new set of Super Pro HD adjustable drop links to replace the old units .

The units are much stronger and thicker and are adjustable so a nice little upgrade from the OEM units .

Last on the list was to order a new set of Renault track rod ends as again the old units looked like they had had the best days .

For once they came off the car with ease .

New Renault units were ordered to replace the old units .

New units vs old .

I set them up as close as the old ones as i could so the tracking should not be too out but the car will be off for a full Geo set up and some corner weighting when I’m finished my end with all up the new parts / upgrades done .

And all the new front suspension parts installed .

That is all of the suspension parts on the car new changed for new / upgraded items and this is for the rear subframe bushing , Engine and gearbox mounts and all of the front units now done .

Great work.
Interesting to see if you can feel any difference in the way it rides now.
I have found that even when like you things don’t seem to worn a refresh does make a difference.

TBH I have only driven the car once so not sure I would be able to tell any difference but as you say a refresh and new suspension parts should give a nice improvement over the 11 year old units that were on the car .

Next on the list of parts to change was the Hub uprights as i found that there was a little play in the left hand side top ball joint so both sides were changed for new units .

New units installed .

And then installed back on the car .

The Swivel hubs seem to be in good condition still but i may look at changing them over for new units at some point but just need to get the car finished now and start to drive the bloody thing .

Next up on the list was to look in to the brakes on the car .

The stock Megane front brake set up uses a 4 pot Brembo calliper and 340mm vented discs .

After looking at what was available as an upgrade the go to option is to install a larger front discs set up so after some reading i managed to pick up a nearly new set of Godspeed 355mm two part discs and mounting brackets .

Old stock disc removed .

New Godspeed 355mm front disc .

Old front brake disc vs new Godspeed disc .

I also got some Puretrack titanium front brake shims that should help reduce heat transfer from the pads and disc into the calliper and fluid .

New Godspeed front disc installed .

Then it was on to what front pad set up to run on the car .

I have used Pagid RLS29 in the past and loved them and have also used the EDC RPX pads and again there were amazing .

After taking to Kev from Kam racing i ordered a set of Winmax W6.5 that will give good cold bite but also great performance when there is some heat in them . The only down side is that they are a little hard on the discs but you cant have everything .

https://www.winmaxeurope.com/products/compound-w65

The pads that were removed were some PBS Pro race units that i will keep as back ups .

Old vs new .

Then it was on to installing the titanium shims .

Then installing the pads .

That was the front set up done and then it was on to the rear .

Some nearly new Godspeed rear discs were ordered and installed .

For the rear pads Kev recommended running the Winmax W5 units to balance out the W6.5 at the front .

The rear pads were PBS Pro race units that were getting a little low so needed to be changed out .

Old vs new .

Then all installed .

Then on to the last part flushing the brake fluid and installing some new Castrol SRF racing brake fluid .

Many thanks think I'm nearly done so it will be good to drive the car and plan a few track days for this year .

Snap, over xmas I had ordered some titanium shims for my Fiesta running Megane Brembos. Got them from Puretrack also.

Not sure i'll ever really know if they make a difference, but i'd like to think so.

I get the science behind them and have been told that they are a good investment from people who track there Meganes and if nothing else I can say the car has some titanium parts on it smile

There are flaps infront of the wheels. If you remove them, it seriously helps the brake cooling on track.
Loving the updates!

Ok thanks for the information I will take a look .

Looking folward to seeing what the Winmax pads are like as I have never tried them but have heard good things about them so hopefully they will be worth the money .

The winmax pads are epic, really good stopping power and last very well too so work out better value than cheaper pads! I now run the Winmax W5 on everything front and rear biggrin

Love the attention to detail on this thread, thank you! Made me go and have a look at my dephaser seal – all fine but good to know they can be prone to leaking thumbup

No problem and it was only when i noticed some oil collection around the arear that i looked in to if it was the Dephaser seal .

Easy job and not a lot of money to get the fix done for me .
