Really like the new GLE and definitely a good choice going with the 400d
The 400d was a bit of a bucket list engine for me, because I'd been so impressed with the old 3.0 V6 diesel engine that preceded it(had that engine in the GLC350d previously). It is lovely and smooth, and it feels really punchy. I bet it is ace in something like the E400d with that being a much lighter car I reckon.

It was, for the year that I had one. The tractability from low revs was amazing - pulling strongly but SO smoothly from about 1,200 rpm in the higher gears. It is a peach of a unit. interstellar said:
Good to know as I bought a 17 plate GLE350d yesterday with that engine in it.
Nice one!
We put 108k miles on that engine from new, and it still felt like it would easily do that amount again. We had 4.5 great years in the 2017 GLC350d. The engine was lovely for sure.
I hope you enjoy your GLE350d too.

It looks nice enough, has the all important to me apple car play amongst other toys. I am sure it will be fine for the job. I wonder if I have a bit of a like for a particular colour??

This was taken last Week in Chamonix, we had to do an Alps trip before it goes!! Sorry for the thread hijack OP, back on track now.
Incoming next Monday

The M5 is stunning. Your GLE is very nice too, I love the colour.

Enjoy collecting it.

Very nice. I think the latest GLE is one of the nicest looking SUV’s around.
Thanks.
I love the way it looks too, and I keep taking photos of it/nipping out onto the drive to look at it. I think that I need help!

I'm just so happy to finally get it how we really like it, and it has been quite a journey with it to be fair.
I've had another warning message pop up, and I think that because I didn't have the windscreen replaced with an OEM one it has come back to bite me on the backside.
This is the message, and after some digging in the owners manual it is the 2 cameras forward facing near the rear view mirror in the windscreen. I've had a look at them and there is a bit of condensation/mist/cloudiness in front of them.

It goes in for its first service next week, so I will see if anything can be done with them. I'm not sure how easy it is to get to them, or whether it will need a new windscreen though. I'm presuming that the windscreen wasn't fitted correctly/sealed properly, and air has got into them or something.
Hopefully it will get sorted one way or another.

The first service was completed today at 15500 miles. The windscreen camera was took off and cleaned so I will see how things go with it. Plus it needs the drivers side inner tie rod replacing because there is some play in it, and it goes in for that in 2 weeks time and it is covered under the warranty.
I also got given a EQA 250 as a loan car, so it was my first(and hopefully last!) experience with a full electric car. 190bhp and a 0 to 60 in 8.9 seconds didn't exactly get my juices flowing! Plus it weighed 2040kg and it only had a top speed of 99mph as well. I nearly fell off my chair when I found out that they are over £50k to buy too!
It drove exactly how I was expecting, and the throttle is basically an on/off switch...bloody annoying I thought. Also with only 273 Ib/ft of torque to drag over 2000kg it didn't feel quick at all either. Yet all the electric fanboys/girls always bang on about instant throttle response and instant torque, but I can't say that I understand what they are going on about though. This one is basically just a gutless/heavy car that is quiet that's all. Not for me.

I've just been pricing rear tyres up because they are down to just over 3mm in the centres(I don't plan to replace them yet but wanted an idea on cost). The car has done just under 16000 miles and I was hoping they'd last a fair bit longer if I'm honest. They aren't the easiest tyres to get hold of at 325/35/22 either.
The best I could find that match what are on the car currently are £346 each fitted. It is mad to think that the the all season Vredestein rear tyres that I had on the previous GLC350d lasted 70k miles in comparison!
It has Pirelli P Zero summer tyres on it, and I guess that the 2300kg weight hasn't helped with how quickly they've worn either. The front tyres are still around 5mm though.

I'm still having trouble with the windscreen cameras as well and it keeps throwing the warning up. When I had a closer look Merc have cleaned the passenger side one, but somehow managed not to do the drivers side one though! The drivers side camera still has some clouding/fogging on the inside of the windscreen just in front of the camera, so I presume that is the issue.
Hopefully they will sort it when it goes back in-in a couple of weeks time.

The first thing I think when I see these behemoths is how glad I am not to be buying the tyres on them! 346 a tyre for 16k miles is eye watering!
Fingers crossed you get the camera issues sorted this time at MB.
They aren't quite ready for a change just yet, but even so that is a lot of cash for a tyre as you say. Fingers crossed you get the camera issues sorted this time at MB.
Thanks. I spoke to Merc yesterday about the camera, so I'm hoping that they sort it out on Monday. The warning message bong about it keeps driving me mad!
So the car went in today to have the windscreen cameras looked at. They have been cleaned and recalibrated, but it still pinged the warning up on me on the way home from collecting it though! I phoned Merc back and they suggested seeing how it behaves over the next couple of days(because it has been quite foggy today and that can ping the warning up they said).
If it still does it over the next couple of days then they will order a new camera for it. So we'll see, although it has been in twice now for the cameras so I was hoping that it would be fixed today to be honest.
I got given a 2022 A180 with only 200 miles on it as a loan car, and it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I was expecting when you consider that it is only a 1.3 engine with only 136bhp. I was pleasantly surprised with it, and the GLE felt absolutely massive at first after I'd jumped straight out of the A-Class though! I liked how small/light the A-Class felt in comparison. The 7 speed DCT felt decent/well matched to it as well I thought.
