- standing start 0-60 (it was a hire car…) is 50 % accelerating and 50 % gear changes. There are about a million between 5 and 60 mph, seemingly.
Did you try it in sport mode? Apparently in sport mode it adds more boost into the second turbo, whereas in comfort mode it doesn't do that in comparison I believe.

I'm used to a million gears now...because the previous GLC that we had for 4.5 years had the same gearbox!
I couldn’t find the button for sport mode! Only some settings in a menu for it? I did turn them on but it was in a traffic jam on the a1… so turned them off again.
It is the top left toggle switch on the centre console just for your info(next to the touch pad/idrive thingy). You can find it on the touch screens as well(you can choose individual settings there as well), but I've always just used the toggle switch though. smile

The GLE went in on Monday and it was quite amusing/eventful. I'd ordered a loan car and that was meant to be an A-Class, however I was then told that it wasn't actually on site, so I had 3 choices. Sit and wait or rearrange, or take an electric smart car home with me. So I went with the smart car.

However when I got in it there was only 45 miles left on the range and I'm about 15 miles away from the dealer. So range anxiety set in. I was freezing in the car because the heater wasn't on, so I switched the heater on and it immediately shaved 10 miles off the range!(so I turned it off again). Then the windscreen started steaming up so I went with the old fashioned way of just opening a window instead.

Then to add insult to injury the car was booked in for both the drivers side tie rod end and the windscreen camera. However when I went to collect it they'd done the tie rod end but they hadn't touched the camera, but they lied to me and said they had though. So when I spoke to the service manager he then later admitted to me that they'd made a mistake and looked at a previous booking and they hadn't touched the camera.

Anyway the new camera is hopefully arriving at the back end of next week, so it is booked in for the following week for that to be done now.

There was plenty of piss taking from my missus/mates when they saw the car that I ended up driving! hehe

You have a lot more patience than me Lee, and seem to be taking the poor dealership service well!

The main reason I sold my (used) E400d after just 12 months was the poor aftersales service - I'm now back in the BMW fold.

I guess we each have our preferences. I've always been a BMW person and tried Audi (once) and Merc (once). The only brand to pull me away so far has been Lexus (2 cars in the recent past - RX450h and RC F).

Yes and I'm pretty laid back nowadays about things, especially in comparison to how I was when I was younger. My missus generally gets a lot more frustrated about things than I do now, and she says to me that I need to show my teeth more like I used to.

I have a couple of mates that have had a really poor experience with Mercedes as you mention, and they never went back either.

The blatant lying to my face I wasn't happy with though, because I've always worked hard at my honesty/integrity, but I'm arguably far too forgiving nowadays though.

It definitely hasn't been the smoothness ownership ride with this car at all really, and we both find that a real shame because we really like the car to be fair.

So the new windscreen camera has been fitted for a few days now and the warning message hasn't pinged up, so I'm guessing that the original one did have a fault on it. So fingers crossed that it is fixed now.

I was given an A250e as a loan car and I wasn't all that impressed with it(I actually preferred the A180 that I had a few months back in comparison).

The battery was empty on it, so it basically left me with the 1.3 engine on its own. That 1.3 engine has quite a lot of work to do because the car is actually heavier than the M4 is!

It was also one of the worst handling cars that I've ever driven, and it understeered basically on every corner I went around. Plus the engine is really rough sounding as well when it kicks in. I read a couple of reviews on it and they mirrored my experience with it as well.

I do like having these loan cars because it gives me a bit of experience with other cars other than my own I think.

Luke.

Probably getting my models mixed up, but is the 1.3 a Renault engine on these?

Yes and it is a Renault/Nissan jobby I believe.

I've been finding it difficult getting hold of the Pirelli rear tyres. I ordered 2 at £407 each but I got a phone call back to say that they couldn't get hold of them. Plus companies like Camskill/tyre leader don't seem to stock them either.

So I decided on going for Continentals instead because they seem to be a lot easier to get hold of. Plus they are cheaper at £633 for 2. I did see the odd place offering the Pirellis for just over £500 each, but I didn’t fancy paying that amount for one tyre.

Managed to squeeze almost 21k miles out of the rear tyres, but I'm still miffed that the car needs new tyres when it isn't even a year old yet though!
I just wanted to mention how disappointed I am with the wear of the rear Continental tyres. They've only been on since January and covered around 5k miles, however they are already lower in wear than the front Pirellis that have now covered 26k miles in comparison. Quite shocking really I reckon.

The problem I've got is that I'm still struggling to get hold of the Pirellis though, and I don't really want to put another 2 Continental rear tyres on when they only last 2 minutes. The choice of tyre options seem very limited with this car as well frustratingly.

I've seen some places who offer MPS4S for it, so I'm wondering if they are worth giving a go. They are more expensive than the Contis, but I reckon that it will be worth it in the long run though.

True! hehethumbup

I'm just a bit frustrated about the difference in wear rates between the Pirellis versus the Continentals really. As you say though...you can't really moan about a car that weighs 2300kg and has 325 wide rear tyres...and then expect them to last though!

It is the tight git part of me sneaking out I reckon! biggrin

So the rear contis have only lasted 3 months and 6k miles, and I can't ever remember tyres lasting only that long since I had the 200SX...and I used to slide that sideways pretty much everywhere! So if you have one of these I'd steer well clear of the Continental Sport Contact 5p.

I'm still struggling to get hold of the Pirelli P Zero that were on it originally, so I don't know if they've been discontinued or it is a supply issue. So I've decided to give the Michelin PS4S a whirl...although they have cost me £510 each though! yikes The Contis were £330 in comparison. I'm booked in for the new tyres to be fitted next week.

I am a bit of a Michelin fanboy to be fair, and I've got MPS4 on the 370Z and MPSS on the M4. So I'm hoping that the MPS4S wear better than the Contis have. The Pirellis on the front are still on at 26.5k miles, so they are doing well wear wise in fairness.

The new rear Michelin PS4S are now fitted and the early impressions are very good. They have helped a fair bit with the chassis shimmy that you get in these as well.

Frustratingly though the "camera view restricted" warning bong is back again now(even when the weather is bright and sunny), so the new windscreen camera hasn't fixed it sadly. I'm beginning to think that it will just be something that we will have to live with to be fair.

It will be in for another service soon though, so I'll get Merc to clean/recalibrate it again! It has already been cleaned/recalibrated twice, plus the camera has been replaced too.

It has been in for its second service today at 30k miles. Plus it has had the windscreen cameras looked at again as well. Both lenses have been replaced with the latest ones, and I can see that the windscreen on the inside in front of the cameras has been cleaned too. I didn't get the warning message ping up on the way back from the dealer, so I will see how things go.

Got given an A200d as a loan car, and I have to say that I was really impressed with the 60mpg that it did in my hands. I've never owned a car as good as that on fuel, so it was a nice surprise.

Crikey. 30k in 16 months is quite the mileage.. We're not even doing that in our electric car and it doesn't feel like that sits still often!

Wearing it well thought no doubt and surely a great cruiser.

Yes and it is a lovely thing to cover miles in thanks. It does always look nice clean I reckon, although I should clean it more to be fair. It is wearing the miles well up to yet cheers.

This is a pic from a couple of weeks ago. smile

I'm pleased to report the the windscreen cameras are still working properly, and I've just ordered 2 new front tyres(MPS4S) to match the rear tyres. I had P Zero on the front and they have lasted 33k miles which is good because the rears only lasted 20k miles in comparison. The new Michelins came in at £390 each, whereas the rears were £517 because they are a bit wider.

Good news on the camera front... perhaps not the tyre front as that's some expensive rubber! How come you do so many miles in it out of curiosity? Long commute?
