Repeat showing today of the episode where they paid £12k for a tatty turquoise 993 tip and sold it for £19500 in the end. It had a faulty varioram etc.
Using the DVLA mot history check and the other DVLA car check it shows the car still exists (N449XNC) but is currently untaxed and untested.
The mot history is very interesting, it was obviously clocked in 2014 when the mileage dropped from 161k to 144k at the following mot. It's failed every single mot prior to then and had work done to pass, plus the mileage history shows clear evidence of clocking.

The interesting thing I suppose is the programme first aired in 2014 by the look of it, so when did the mileage shenannigins happen and where is the car now?

Merely out of interest as it was a fairly good episode having owned a 993 varioram and the prices have rocketed since then. The car would be worth perhaps 30k now?

I think the programme pre-dated 2014. It's a long time since you could buy any 993 for £12k.

I like W.Ds, but that was a tatty, unloved, high mls, Targa, and it was a 'repair and tart up' job rather than a full restoration.

It was one of their later series before they went USA etc, and the programme was deffo 2014 hence me thinking about what happened to it since? Agreed it was a quick tart up job and they bought it from in the trade. I didn't check if it had any accident damage on v car tho

Are you certain its been clocked? I can't imagine anyone being put off by a 160k car would suddenly jump on a 140k car. Seems a silly amount to clock especially when the previous values have been recorded.

Might have been a speedo change (they break easily when reseting the ODO) OR some other MOT station f' up. I had someone ask me if my 1997 Mini was clocked as the mileage had been recorded -100k under the actual mileage because the ODO only records 5 digits!

check the online MOT history, two seperate readings way under the previous few years. i have no other feasible explanation. interesting part for me was it appeared to be refreshed in 201-14 period and aired in that era, but almost immediately sank without trace from tax/mot etc, and with 20k miles less.

If you put that reg number into VehicleSmart, it flags up red on the mileage history where the 17000 odd miles have disappeared.
It's been clocked, or the replacement speedo change would have shown up on the MOT details.

I would expect this to be a speedo change, they were prone to faults for different reasons, either the speedo itself or abs sensor faults could stop them working.
Seems pointless clocking it by 17000 miles on a car of that mileage. Shame it doesn't seem to be being used again!!

Only 17000 miles if it hasn't been driven between mots. If it's done 20k in that year then it could be a 30-40k swing.

I'm still puzzled as to why it disappeared. Maybe written off? Maybe it will come back "fresher " and with those missing miles. It doesn't appear to have survived long after the show.

It was for sale on eBay not that long after the programme went out (around 12 months, if my memory serves me correctly) - I seem to remember it sold again for around £19K then

ED says when fixing the tail spoiler "in the nearly 20years" The car is a 1997 and looking at the MOT history the ONLY ONE needing nothing was the one done on 29th January 2007 ...... therefore the car was done by Edd just prior to that.

Latest issue of 911 & Porsche World delivered today and one of the Tried & Tested motors is none other than this 993. Still for sale at Northway but some of its later history has emerged (it was in Hong Kong 2015-19 and has 164,000mls on the clock).

Where is the ad? I can't find it online....

Wheeler dealer episode originally aired on 24 March 2014.
So i presume the MOT on 4 December 2013 @ 161,381 miles has been done by WD.

BTW, it has always been a manual car. You can watch the episode on dailymotion (image is mirrored). Just do a video search for "wheeler dealer 993" on google.
