Let’s face it nobody has bought a 718 with the standard 4 cylinder engine in for the sound(my wife had one, Greta car but sound wasn’t;’t the best)….and even cars that sound “good” now sound st compared to cars from 5 years ago. A 992 GT3 sounds like a lawnmower at idle compared to the 991.2’s.

Bit of a myth about the four cylinder in my view. Sure they don't sound like the 6's but if you can find an older one pre GPF then they are actually pretty good also and vastly preferable in all versions to an EV. Ymmv of course.

My wife’s was a 67 plate so pre GPF… the exhaust noise was all a bit manufactured if I am honest. Our Macan Turbo which is pre GPF sounds better than the Boxster did.

The exhaust note of my erstwhile preGF 2.5 L Cayman S with PSE sounds very deep, bassy and loud with a lot of pops and bangs, not obtainable with even the GT4.
There is no way any electric vehicle is going to have the same exhaust note. Mind you it also sounds better than the Flat 6 Cayenne that was loaned to me when the Cayman S was being serviced

Ha! I thought 'lawnmower' was quite complimentary there. All GT3's sound like a bag of spanners in a washing machine at idle, it's part of the um, charm. My Dad has always referred to my 997 GT3 as "the tractor" since I got it many moons ago

Great as long as you want a Panamera or a Cayenne. Not much else available.

Yes I know what you mean about the older cars having that character. The new cars with the particulate filter sound pretty rubbish at tickover IMHO

And it’s a terrible colour imo.

Oh ! I have an allocation and shark blue was one of my options ! What colour do you like a cab in ?!

I assume the 911 was at list I have not tried to work it out. I was offered a new gts cab the other day for less

Yes, anybody who was unfortunate enough to buy at those kind of prices, must be kicking themselves now!

Is it just that they aren't allowed to sell new cars for more than list?

These new cars popping up is going to start interfering with the used ones with premium asking prices.

I believe that to be the case yes. I once sold a Boxster over list to an Audi dealer who was allowed to sell anything other than VAG cars over price.

Except most of these cars are ludicrously over-specced, and some are in very odd colours...
