For the love of Tuscan (project build)
Discussion
So I've skipped a few updates with the focus on getting the Tuscan through it's MOT, or at least, find out where it is deficient. I've been having issues with idle speed when warm (upto 2400rpm!) and knew it would fail on that, but also wasn't sure how the LED headlights would fair seen as I don't think they've been fitted to a Tuscan before.
The good news is, it passed on everything, including the front (and rear) LED lights, but as expected failed on idle speed and emissions, the problem being the Lambda reading which was 1.7 (should be around 1) for both banks. I'm told high lambda normally points to faulty Lambda sensors, exhaust leak or air leak at the TBs.
So on first start-up the engine sits at 900rpm, but as it warms and the throttle is operated the rpm creeps to 1700-2400rpm and won't come down.
The TB mechanism seems ok, springs are operating ok and I've balanced the TBs.
Has anyone experienced this? Is the high lambda linked to high idle?
The software shows AFR123 as red but Lambda readings/Lambda control are ok but lambda voltage occasionally flicks to 2?

I experienced (over the last ~ 12 months) a similar issue with idle speed creeping up as the engine warmed up - which became embarrassing in traffic.
I thought it might be sticky linkages to the butterflies in the throttles and/or weak return spring.
On a whim, I changed the TP potentiometer, the 'blue' one on cylinders 1.2 and 3 for a known 'good' one I had in my spares box.
What a transformation! The idle rpm now holds steady at 900-1000 rpm, and the crispness in response to the pedal is returned. (It was the 'hesitation' when pulling away that pushed me to change the pot.)

PS: See the thread running on the Sp6 or Cerbera forums about the 'Hall-effect' replacement throttle potentiometers.

That's a good shout nawarne, the TPS could well be the cause of the AFR123 and idling issues, when I get a chance I'll test them. I've had a look through the 'Hall effect' TPS thread, I've also been watching 'Mr Nice Guys' Cerbera 4.5 youtube channel and watched his last 2 episodes that cover his aftermarket TPS discovery which would be suitable for the speed six front and rear TPS as it works CW and CCW, so I'm currently trying to source some.
I'm assuming the Lambda issue is unrelated to the TPS as it effects both banks, unless both TPS have failed, but it looks like I'll be removing the TBs and getting the rod bearings fitted and making up my own gaskets.

I had a look at those TPSs after seeing his video but they looked to be £100+ each?
What are the alternatives though? As far as I am aware you could butcher a white TP so it can be reversed into the blue TP position or make up mounts for alternatives. The first imo would be a last resort, the second more expensive than these alternatives.... assuming the ones the OP has found don't need much persuading to fit.I suppose it would be rude not to show where I'm upto. So last week was the first time I've driven it and the first time it's been out of the garage since it returned from the bodyshop in spring 2023...
Paint looks almost black in the pics but it's House of Kolor Ice Violet, wheels are Bola bronze but look almost gold in these pics...

The interior is 99% complete, bodywork needs a good machine polish, I haven't touched the suspension yet, I have a set of Nitrons ready to be built up ready to go on, I'm getting a knock from the rear so these will have to go on soon, boot will be the next trimming job as it's just stripped out bare at ATM. I'm really happy with the interior, the light blue alcantara looks beautiful against the factory Prussian blue leather that I have restored and my new mats. My focus is on getting it driveable as I have a few engine related issues to fix so it with pass the MOT next time round....

Couldn't the screen be put into a curved holder where the radio is to make it look more in keeping with the curves of the interior, rather than the tacked on look, even though every current car manufacturer likes the afterthought look.
The drivers seat thigh bolster needs re-trimming, as the cracked leather spoils the look, and the seatbelt colour is a too loud.

Agreed, stereo screen mount needs work, seatbelt colour is the darkest available off the shelf, it will do for now but I don't want black in there. The seat bolsters are actually really good, you mean the under thigh cushion? It's not cracked, admittedly the leather isn't perfect and still needs more work, and the lighting in the pic doesn't do it any favours, but it's night and day compared to what they were like...
Wow, it looks fantastic, inside and out!!
Very good colour combination. The wheel and exterior colours are brilliant and match great.
The interior colour combination is also very nice. If you don't want black for the seatbelts, I'd maybe go for a light blue than this strong mid blue.
I really like the way you've attached the pedal cover with the brass? screws. It matches the rest of the Tuscan interior perfectly.
Did you put a rubber in front of the sheet metal? How is it fixed?

I was originally thinking of changing the interior colour combo as blue has never been on my list of interior colours but it very quickly grew on me so decided to stick with Prussian Blue over Oulton Stratus Blue but do it in my own way. My preference would be a seat belt to contrast with the Prussian Blue so with probably end up with Oulton Stratus Blue seatbelts if I can get that colour...
All the brass/gold-coloured screws on the interior are actually anodised titanium purely because the gold colour is a better match with the factory switchgear than gold anodised aluminium.
I thought it looked a lot neater having the mat tucked under the alloy cover and the cover is a perfect heal rest, but the freshly anodised cover would soon get scuffed-up so bonded ribbed rubber matting to it...
