RE: Bright Idea
Discussion
I have quite recently taken my CBT so I can use a 125 scooter for work.
They teach you to always use your lights on a bike during the day, they even gave me a video, produced by a government agency methinks, telling you this also.
The exact phasing was 'remember, ignition on, lights on, ride on'
Ok, so I'm bias....I own a Saab as well as the TVR. Saabs and Volvos should come well down the list of annoying cars as far as lights are concerned and Top Gear et al should be concentrating on driver education as their priority. There is a big difference between DRL (which are NOT the same as dipped beams) and the a**holes in BMWs (main culprits) and hot hatches. There is no argument for the use of either driving lights or fog lights unless in particuarly poor visibility (and that does not include normal night time or even rain).
totally agree cirks....there seems to be confusion here as to what 'running lights are' as opposed to what 'little tossers in halford-ramraided fiestas' are
RichB...thought it was funny! but like apman, I aint turning my lights off. For each discerning proper driver I irritate there are 20 half blind muppets in 4x4s to worry about.
cheers
Night
I'm with apguy on the bikes/lights issue, even though I don't ride bikes any more. If nothing else, the fact that the majority of bikers use the lights all the time (rightly so, they are more vulnerable) would give insurance companies a get-out if you bucked the trend and didn't use them.
It is annoying when you are driving something akin to a skateboard. I notice it in my TVR, not in my Audi.
apguy is right, if it is annoying you then at least you have noticed the biker, job done.

Quote :As for volvo's, well, I also have a 760 GLE, which as DLR lights, which obviously are on all the time. Now, if someone would like to inform me of how to turn this feature off I will,>
Sad to admit I know BUT, if it's anything like the V70 I got given as a company car for a month there is a tiny 'screw' type thing (tech' term!)next to the rotary switch for the lights. Get a screwdriver and play around with that and one of te settings is off. You need to do it with the engine running as that confuses the issue (I think).
Anyway, Drive a Griff like me and you can ONLY blind someone with mainbeam, problem solved eh?
