BMW i8 then.... decent seats in the back and isn't going to get you egged by the teenage Extinction Rebellion crowd, something that everybody will like.
This. Me and the wife helped out with some prom runs a few weeks ago. The kids were mad for her i8, got more attention than my car! Fun to drive as well, that 100kw motor makes it an absolute weapon mid-range, more torque than the Aventador! Dihedral doors, 50+ mpg even when you drive it flat out, £0 RFL, very very cheap servicing on the 1.5 3-cly engine. £50k will get you a 2016/17 model easy inc 3 yrs warranty. Makes a noise like a spaceship when you fire it up, rear seats, stupid side spoilers, led glowing interior etc etc. Kids love them. I would never have considered one but it's a real fun car to drive. Great handling and a bit of noise (albeit acoustically tuned and enhanced) if you need it. I actually find myself in full-elec quite a bit which is a pleasant changeEdited by Pioneer on Tuesday 23 July 17:11
I've had a Maser GT, 911 Turbo S, GT3, GTS, Huracan (same base engine as the V10 R8), and am about to collect my third Exige. You want a R8 V10 all day long. Its a proper supercar. Fast, sounds sublime excellent handling, reliable.
An Exige is at the other end of the spectrum to a Rapide and that you even suggested an Aston tells me an Exige is too extreme for you.
The Masterati GT is a barge of a car, you said sports car, the GT is not a sports car. It's a GT.
The Porsche ticks the sports box but it won't compare to the experience the R8 will provide.

How much is a TVr Sagaris these days?
More like 70k plus. I'd be suspicious of anything priced well under that. Fabulous thing though.Exige 350 is exciting for driver and passenger, easy to drive, looks good.
I'm biased but the Noble M12 is even better. Great driver's car but also easy in town, rare and looks great. 50k should buy a really nice well-cared for one.
How about an Ariel Atom? Total madness, plus leaves change from the £50k...

Alpine is the best all-round for the job, unless you want a badge.
^ if buying new...no brainer.. If you want a couple of back seats for your kids then i'd get a nice 997.2 Coupe...Astons, Maseratis can be a risky buy if you get a dud although i do love both brands due to the racing heritage.Nerdherder said:

612 Scaglietti linked on another thread, £55k.
Holy sh£t that’s crazy.. Too good to be true? I’d be happy with a 456 too come to think of it. Or a 599.

A very reputable dealer near me had one for £65k. I feel it’s like when I saw 360’s for 35k, they can only go up in price!

I can't imagine a 12 yr old getting excited about half of these cars. Maybe a newer Ferrari, Lambo, McL etc but what you'll get for £50k with a Supercar badge on may just seem like an old classic to him. Depends on his outlook obviously but my 3 lads would prefer something a bit newer. Also depends on how much this car is for 'him' or for 'you' ... Out of your own shortlist the 997 is a good shout. Otherwise R8, i8, GTR etc

The noise alone on these should put a smile on his face..it did on my son's a few years ago
