It’s not just zippy, been watching repeat user names bidding since the start. They bid up to the reserve then obviously drop off the side of the earth.

Cc just want cars ok their site, the couldn’t care less about history, condition or who’s bidding as long as it gets to the reserve they get paid.

chandeliers ?

I must be missing something. Anyone care to explain please ?
Compulsive bidder,...

Zippy is now bidding on all of these at the moment: the white Testarossa, silver DB7, black Mercedes e220d, blue m4, silver Lotus Elan, black 991 turbo, black 968cs, black RS6, black Cayenne, black TVR, Land Rover Series IIA, silver 570S, burgundy Continental R, black 575, red 308, silver 840ci, red Esprit turbo, ...

He loves everything and must have deep pockets and a huge warehouse to park all this should he win.

So Zippy is either someone who is “living the dream” or a house account...either way it’s not a good look for CC. It it’s someone bidding on multiple lots for fun they could if they wanted stop someone doing it to have long term credibility. But then they could leave all lots up that didn’t selll, all the bidding histories, not remove lots just before auctions close etc etc But they don’t.

My guess is within a year BaT move to Europe and then it’s all over red rover.

Do they bid on anything without a reserve?

That would be great. There would be a language issue though, unless they create one marketplace per country.

I thought CC had planned to expand to NL in September?

It already has...sort of. International Collectibles have a tie up in NL with a company called Differs Group, a lot of the LHD cars they have are Differ's cars which they market to their clients. Like this uber rare 964 C Lightweight https://www.internationalcollectables.com/Cars/For... and here is the same car at Differs https://www.differsgroup.nl/porsche-964-leichtbau/

No funny business it's just them JV'ing.

Some of the cars sold through CC are cars that Differs manage for Dutch clients. They're priced in Euro's.

Zippy would be ok by me if it assisted in getting my car up to reserve - all auction houses do it.

Real advantage of CC in my book is that you keep the car under your own lock and key , - no Coys effect here thanks.

And payment is direct to you from buyer.

Indeed, I've yet to be at an auction, online or real life where the fire extinguishers and light fittings weren't involved in the early stages of bidding.

Or he’s a trader bidding on lots of vehicles in the hope of picking up one bargain out of the twenty lots he’s involved in. To do that he needs to bid on lots of cars. Doesn’t need to be suspicious or underhand.

Err are you the market website that allowed the yellow Elise to go through and deleted the alarm posts ????
Yep, that's us, though let us be transparent (as that seems to be a trait which is lost or undervalued in online auctions apparently).

The car you refer to is https://themarket.co.uk/listings/lotus/elise-s1/9e...

We always described it as having damage and photographed it for all to see.

We never delete comments, although we do allow owners to flag comments (which temporarily stops them being visible) if they feel something is stated that is inaccurate or unfair to their vehicle. We can reinstate those comments (and often do) but in this particular case a couple of comments were made which did overreach from fact into speculation hence they were not reinstated. However, as you can see other comments were left that were also derogatory toward this particular car.

We had several people inspect the car prior to auction close that did not concur with the comments that we chose not to reinstate and the value it reached was fair taking all of the above into account.

No chandelier bidding, no false results (we publish all, good or bad) and no side deals. But most of all we are happy to be criticised, take on the feedback and work out how we can be better...

You wouldn’t get CC coming on here and saying that!

Not quite. There are auctions that you conveniently remove. One example the Lotus Esprit JPS
https://themarket.co.uk/listings/lotus/esprit-john...

Wonder why?

As you came here talking about honesty and transparency would welcome your comments. And that’s one auction, can list others!!

Happy to oblige. The JPS auction was won by somebody in Asia who after paying his deposit is uncertain about completing the sale (nothing to do with the vehicle itself). Whilst we try and resolve the situation we have hidden the listing as we wouldn't want to claim that something had sold that perhaps hasn't...
