Thanks to PH and SP for sorting a good SS (too many acronyms?) Great mix of cars going down the strip, those BMW 1 series repmobiles were consistently quick keeping a lot of expensive machinery honest! Bubble cars Octavia PH's German barge was epic too.

Don't think there has been a mention of the drag bike yet, just absolutely mucking fental There isn't a smillie for big gonads is there? Same again next year please.

PS - drag bike number from memory were 7.2 and 202mph!!!

First time on the strip for me. Great fun once I'd worked out how to launch it. 14.2 in the standard R32. Had a good race against a Nissan 350z and Audi S3. Would if liked to have seen how my previous supercharged R32 did but not meant to be!

Ah Mr Twingo! I had no idea your merc would be that quick, as I assumed all 500s had the 302hp SOHC 24v unit, I think because in the US they called yours the 550 but obviously not here. Real stealthy!!

Me neither - very happy with how the 388hp DOHC 32v 5.5 hauled its bulk along on the day - badged 550 in the US indeed, but 500 over here.
Good to see you again, and that we both brought along something a little bit quicker this time...

Thanks to PH for organising a great day. It seemed a good venue for it, the right size for the crowd, and the public didn't seem to wander in like what happens at some other places. Was quite nice weather after 10am too.

Overheard a guy in a BMW making a phonevcall to his mrs saying he destroyed the clutch early on in the day too. Glad I wasn't him!

In fairness to myself, without using launch control (which I discovered is not a good idea...), it's quite hard to launch it being dual-clutch. You just kind of sit there for a second waiting for the turbo but when it kicks you are well and truly off

In fairness to myself, without using launch control (which I discovered is not a good idea...), it's quite hard to launch it being dual-clutch. You just kind of sit there for a second waiting for the turbo but when it kicks you are well and truly off

I noticed that. After the 60ft mark, you were gone - no way I could keep up. I got my little win for the day tho! I could do well at 60ft drag racing, but cant see that idea taking off.

My issue was one-tyre-fire. Tried to warm the tyres up before every run, but mostly spun one wheel!
