Having come back to life in July it’s now been put on hold again until people stop sneezing, coughing, wetting themselves etc

Chatting last night in my local and rumours are the guy who organised the monthly meets has now lost interest in continuing to do so as apparently he paid for the marshalling and got absolutely no thanks from those who attended or from the pub who financially benefited from the event. It’s become a victim of its own success with I gather 300+ cars attending after the last lockdown. Tbh I never knew it was run by someone outside of tbe pub. Has anyone else heard anything?

It's run by a chap called Michael Philps as far as I know - he runs the face book page etc.

I love the meets, quite often go...

The last one got a slating from locals, one particular woman on the facebook page called Janet Lofthouse who went as far as to call it an illegal gathering. Only takes a few people like that to complain to the pub, local authorities and the police, and it'd be more of a headache to put on than not

Nothing illegal about it but that won’t stop the naysayers trying to put and end to a 30yo event.

Agree, nothing wrong with it at all.

It's just a couple of people in the local village having a moan... Problem is if they kick up enough of a stink, they'll put a stop to it.

I’m one of the Marshals and just to clarify we don’t get paid for our time and
Efforts there. We do it to assist voluntarily. The owner has encountered various problems as you state. The Covid situation has wound a lot of events down but hopefully in the future that side of things will improve for us all.

Oh yes absolutely! Save our local pub that we only go to twice a year for Sunday lunch...

I’m told no events for the moment.
Hopefully spring 2021 if situations improve. I’ll update any news as and when it develops.
