Three weeks today until we set off…. biggrin

Starting to plan routes, Calais —> Sées, then on to Angouleme via Le Mans, trying to avoid the Autoroutes for some country road fun.

Any suggestions of places to see along the way would be welcome thumbup

Saumur, or Blois both are quite nice on the Loire and give you a crossing point. I prefer Blois. Some great roads in the area if coming from Le Mans but avoid the road that runs along the north side of the Loire, its boring and very often slow due to traffic

We are 11/9 overnight ferry to Dieppe, 12/9 amble along the coast for a look at the Normandy WW2 beaches and to find some breakfast, then take all afternoon / evening down to Angouleme via Saumur and avoiding the motorway.

Thanks for the recommendations thumbup

We’re returning via Normandy to visit some of the D Day Memorials and museums, very much looking forward to that part of the trip.

What a wonderful weekend. Never seen so many bars and restaurants. Everyone friendly, lots of interesting machinery, the social side has been superb, the weather brilliant. If you’ve not done it- you absolutely must!

Just got back late last night and what a great event again. This is the 4th visit in 8 years and it has always been hugely enjoyable.

This year stayed in La Rochelle Thur night on the way down avoiding the autoroutes. It allows leisurely lunches and dinners. This years group

It is made by being able to wander amongst the most eclectic mix of cars and never any issues with a restaurant table.

We have previously done the organised rally on the Sat but the last couple of times have driven out to lunch in the most beautiful town of Brantôme by the river to the South West.

Highly recommended.
